It seemed like only yesterday she had that final graduation sketch with all the cast members hugging her and that would have been a perfect way to go out and never return to SNL unless it was a cameo.

I enjoyed the show but I do agree they could have left some more time before having Kristen back.

Is it me or does it seem like the cast puts more effort into eps. where alums host than other stars? (which means it's a meddling effort as opposed to little).

Seemed like the cold open was cut short, they Ariel Castro, then Hader says something about Charles Ramsey and goes straight to the live from New York. Seems like something got messed up and Hader aborted the skit.

There was also a weird cut in the monologue when Kristen was talking to Lorne.

They cut to a tape for the Gilly portion. Do you really think Wiig changed in and out of that costume in 0.5 seconds?

I'd put more responsibility on the writers. The cast can only enhance what they're given.

Unlike the first-time guests, the recurring hosts (Hanks, Timberlake, Baldwin) and former cast members allow the writers to jump right in, knowing full well the strengths and weaknesses of who they're writing for. They don't waste half the week feeling out the host and their publicists.

This was a cut in the middle of Kristen and Lorne talking, on a static shot. They could've easily masked the cut to the pre-taped Gilly bit after switching to the close up of just Lorne.

And that right there is what is wrong with SNL these days. The show used to have a "we don't care which celebrity we trash" attitude. Now they don't want to stomp on any feet unless it is someone who is completely down and out.

The Californians was funny for the first two minutes the very first time they did it. Now, it's just something to fast forward.

Mother's Day commercial and Disney ghost mom show were great. Otherwise it was meh.

And that was the problem with Kristen Wiig - every character was done to death till the very sight of one had me reaching for the remote.

Aside from a few previously mentioned highlights (loved the over-the-top acupuncture sketch) this felt like a rerun from two years ago. And I'm not a Wiig hater... I actually think she's far better comedically when she's not playing silly characters (the acupuncture scene and the car pooling sketch with Baldwin a few seasons back as a few examples).
