Synopsis:

Acting on a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him in New Orleans, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) makes a trip to the town he and his family helped build. Klaus' questions lead him to a reunion with his former protege, Marcel (guest star Charles Michael Davis), a charismatic vampire who has total control over the human and supernatural inhabitants of New Orleans. Determined to help his brother find redemption, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) follows Klaus and soon learns that Hayley (guest star Phoebe Tonkin) has also come to the French Quarter searching for clues to her family history, and has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie (guest star Daniella Pineda). Meanwhile, in Mystic Falls, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) continue with their plan for Elena (Nina Dobrev), while Katherine (Nina Dobrev) reveals a surprising vulnerability to Rebekah (Claire Holt) and asks her to deliver a message. best thing about this spinoff is it should get Klaus and the rest of the lame ass'd "originals" off of the Vampire Diaries.

Interesting. Didn't realize that group was popular enough to warrant their own show.

Klaus, I could do without, but I like Rebekah and Elijah. Don't know if this group can carry their own show, though.

Klaus has overstayed his welcome on TVD'S so it still remains to be be seen wether they can craft a whole show around him but many said the same things about Angel. It least Angel was likable though.

I actually like them all  Rebekah (whatever the actresses name is) is just damn near perfect.

But I'm glad that we will have the focus back on the main characters...but I will tune in next fall at 9PM for The Originals. There is no way the show doesnt get picked up.

Rebekah has had a great arc this season. I'd like to see where they go with her. I also like Phoebe Tonkin quite a bit.

This definitely was a bore. I can't see myself watching these characters on a regular basis and the preggers twist was a dud.

For some reason I really enjoyed this episode. I guess I'm in the minority since it strayed from the main storyline which I feel has gotten a bit tiresome. It did feel like watching a totally different show tonight. I really like Elijah and Rebekah and I could ultimately see them trying to make Klaus a sympathetic character. But as others have said, I don't know if they can carry a whole series by themselves but at least they have a foundation to build on now.

Like everyone else, I like Rebekah and Elijah on the main VD show. There was nothing in this pilot that got me interested in watching the Originals run around New Orleans. The witch stuff has been run into the ground by VD and frankly I don't care to see Klaus become a more humanized character, after his stint as the main villain for several seasons on VD.

Klaus got Haylee pregnant, showed some interest int he bartender, then calls Caroline to keep that going as well. I dont get the love for Klaus at all, but I am not the 16-25 year old female they seem to be targeting so maybe that is it.

So that is one reason for twenty three episodes. Was not aware until after it aired.
