Troy did a good Abed.

This show excels at sucking ass this season. I'm sad to say, I won't miss it when it's gone.

Wow, I really liked this one. Annie fawning over the dean, and Shirley's reactions to it, was hilarious.
Is it just me or did this one have some weird lighting going on? Some of the music cues felt out of place as well.

Glover and Jim Rash did a great job tonight. Annie being turned on by the dean cracked me up.
Not a great episode, but some good laughs. |

I liked that the ended the Britta/Troy stuff. The Dean's "Jeff inside me" jokes cracked me up.

i was surprised at how bad Pudi was at doing Glover. He was using phrasings i dont associate with Troy at all. Glover had the Abed eye stuff down, the delivery spot on.
I don't really view this as Community, as much as someone's interpretation of Community which makes it go down better. |
Re: Community - "Basic Human Anatomy" - 4/25/13
I thought this episode was great. Really funny moments and they pulled off the 'Freaky Friday' bit perfectly.

Re: Community - "Basic Human Anatomy" - 4/25/13
It started off slow, but the last 10 minutes were excellent. Glover doesn't get the attention he deserves. He's Abed was spot on. The fake outtakes gag at the end was also pretty clever.

Easily the best episode of this iffy season. Jim Rash wrote it, and I thought he did great. His Jeff impersonation was also spot on I thought.
Agree that Pudi's version of Troy was terrible. Troy is a lovable idiot, but he didn't play him like that at all. |
Re: Community - "Basic Human Anatomy" - 4/25/13
wow - still hate for the show.
Come on - this episode was clever and really showed the acting range of these guys! Jim Rash's impersonation of Jeff was right on! What a fun episode. |

So much better than last week.

No comments on Abed wearing the Doctor Who/Bill & Ted t-shirt? So Doctor Who and Inspector Spacetime both exist in this universe?

Re: Community - "Basic Human Anatomy" - 4/25/13
Absolutely the best episode of the season. Dare I say a possible candidate for top ten of the series. Others brought up the highlights already, so I'll add one more -- Jeff consistently tossing aside the DVD was a great gag.

Agree that Pudi's version of Troy was terrible. Troy is a lovable idiot, but he didn't play him like that at all. I had some hope for this season; even though I knew Harmon was such a big part of the show, I thought since the actors were all hilarious and were so dialed in to their characters by this point, the transition with the new showrunners would be smoother. It's clear, though, that Dan Harmon knew how to balance absurd plots while still being funny and relatable. I mean, I knew next to nothing about Dungeons & Dragons before that episode, and it's one of my favorite of the series. Whereas the plots this season just feel forced, like they're trying to go, "See? We're meta and reference geeky stuff! That's what you guys like, right?", with no apparent reason or resolution. The show "Angel" had an episode with puppets that not only was really funny, but also made complete sense in context, with a great plot and memorable moments. Community does an episode with puppets, and it's like, why are we doing this? What's the point? There was no real reason to do it, it just seemed like something this show would do. And it wasn't even funny. A lot of stuff this season has been funny, but it's not as funny as it was, nor am I exited to watch every episode the minute it comes on, like I used to. I find myself thinking "I guess I have to watch that to get it off my DVR". There's something missing, some deeper layer to the show, and I don't see it coming back. I'll probably stop watching if it gets picked up next season, which is a shame, since it was right up there with Arrested Development as one of my favorite sitcoms. |

I liked this one - the show has been missing troy, and he was heavily featured. Granted, it was troy as abed, not real troy, but more glover is a good thing. And the dean just attaching himself to the bit to be Jeff was awesome. As was Annie's infatuation. The show has definitely picked up again after the rock bottom that was the puppet episode. And now that troy/Britta is over, we don't have to waste time on that horrible plotline. |
Re: Community - "Basic Human Anatomy" - 4/25/13
It's the writers' interpretation of Troy, which has fucking sucked all year. It's not Pudi's fault just like it's not Glover's fault. I take this body swapping conceit as almost a tacit admission of that fact.
I don't like how attached the writers are to this sort of story where they break everybody up. Community is at its strongest when as many of the characters as possible get to bounce off of one another, but they seem to insist on pairing people up excessively. That said, I think this was one of their strongest efforts of the year. |

There are other....universes?

Decent, return to form episode. A littler rough around the edges, but I enjoyed it.
Gillian Jacobs is gonna be on the Nerdist tonight. (BBCA 4/27). |
Re: Community - "Basic Human Anatomy" - 4/25/13
I'm surprised at all the positive responses to this episode. I thought it was pretty bad. There were very few moments that made me laugh, and the ones that did came from the dean doing his Jeff impression. I didn't think Glover or Pudi did a good job playing the other character. For me, this one was on par with the puppet episode or maybe even a slight notch below. I've been fairly forgiving of this season, even though it has felt off most of the time, but this one left me so cold that I just had to come here to comment on it.

Re: Community - "Basic Human Anatomy" - 4/25/13
I liked it. The absurdity kept me wondering the whole time.
Still a fart end to the series (assuming it's not renewed, which I hope it's not). |
