I definitely felt the same way. I know everyone loves Peter Dinklage/Tyrion, but he's (the actor) not all that great to me, and she is even worse. I could not stop cringing while watching that scene. It really is a shame because I love the character.

The rest of the episode I found enjoyable, but over all too soon.

Spoilers, please! Some of us haven't read the books yet.

Though I'm begining to understand why my love letter to Daenerys was returned undeliverable by the post office.

I think they should have specifically said something about them flaying Theon's finger... it might've helped a little.

You could almost see Joffrey pop a stiffy when Margaery was talking about pulling the crossbow's trigger.

FWIW I've loved Dinklage in this series so that's really the first bad scene I remember with him. I don't care for the actress or the character of Shae though. Hopefully that exposition is a prelude to a foul death for her.

Notice in any of the last two seasons when hot women (whores or whoever) are at his presence, he's totally disinterested in them. Last night's episode had that hot little number (Margaery Tyrell ) with the tits at full display and all Joffrey does is curl his lip as if to say "ew, ew, ew, women, tits, ew."

Not a book spoiler - I'm just going off the show:

Joffery is still relatively young and inexperienced. He hasn't even really been shown alone with a woman who wasn't his mother, let alone one who he is betrothed to and seems totally into him.

His reaction was more "holy shit, this chick is hot...what do I do?" than anything.

I didn't think it was awful, but Dinklage's accent is really starting to grate on me. It's not so bad when he's angry and/or agressive, but when he's talking in his "nice" voice (like he was in this scene), I start losing my patience quickly.

Either it's the acting or it is inteded but I always get the feeling he is being fake when he is being "nice".

It has occurred to me that he's being insincere when he speaks in that tone, but his relationship with Shae seems genuine enough. Either way, the voice still bugs me.

That would have helped.

Spoiler:
I guess they are going to do some big reveal when the escape goes bad.Or maybe Theon won't be emasculated on the show and he just gets away. The stuff in the books was pretty brutal for him. I wonder if the producers think it would be too much.

In season 2 didn't Tyrion set him up with 2 whores and it didn't go well for either of them. So he's had access to willing naked women but his cruel streak took over.

It went better for Ros than the other girl I think.

That's true, but they were paid for. Margarey represents something entirely different.

That's one of the scenes I was referring to...that was the only scene Dinklage was in, and it served no purprose from what I could tell...as if they just kept it in there so fans wouldn't complain he wasn't in the episode.

Spoiler:

There's actually quite a bit of foreshadowing in this scene.

Wouldn't answering that be a spoiler?

The show introduced a young girl and her brother to a young adolescent's group. There's always the potential for shipping. Hell, there's potential between the Reeds themselves given the Lannisters' penchants.

Hope that's right.

To clarify, Robb does NOT know Theon is being held captive by the Bolton's. Roose Bolton told Robb last season that the Ironborn put Winterfell to the torch before they arrived. He did not tell Robb they had captured Theon. Robb assumes Theon is back at Pyke.

And for those who have not read the books (this isn't a spoiler), everything we see involving Theon is told via memories/flashbacks as Theon is absent from books 3 and 4, the show is just keeping him involved by showing rather than telling.

Good God Man, now we know where Theon isn't.
