That was horrible. No one dies but a bunch of randoms, governor is still Alive, now the prison has a bunch of women and children? (who they have no supplies for).

Even the wife who is into it more than me was pissed off.

Yeah this was really underwhelming; there were no surprises and the only good parts were Carl's scenes.

And that whole A-Team bit in the prison and outside the inner-cell blocks was awful; the writers really couldn't kill anyone in the prison because they were forcing that whole bit with the Governor on the side of the road.

Was not too surprised Carl shot the guy because it looked that move we have seen a thousand times, hand gun pull some move and shot everyone else. They said drop the gun, not hand it to me so you can try to attack us.

For as bad a shot that Tyrese is, Maggie and Glenn don't even come close to hitting anyone in this episode.

They weren't trying to. The plan was to just scare them away.

I didn't detest the episode but it was lazy and odd. I suspect unchristly levels of re-edits went on considering the Mazzera canning. The tombs part seemed especially poorly done, b film level really, and that seemed weird. Pacing and flow were jagged pretty much throughout. I'm hoping Mazzera was the one who wanted to extend the prison arc because if he wasn't...uh-oh.

If they do a time-jump, I'd love to see The Governor take on the role of
Spoiler:
Negan
from the comics. That might be a logical move.

Re: The Walking Dead -- Season Finale -- "Welcome to the Tombs" -- 3/31/13

The Andrea and Milton story took prob half the show... Her stopping to try and pick up the tool while she talked to Milton was maddening... Milton had to remind her to try and free herself..
Why didn't Milton just crawl over and grab the damn tool...
This ruined the entire episode for me.
To me, Carl acted justly. It is a tough new world and people suck. Have to look out for yourself or your group.
The person he killed was there to kill them.....
Bye Andrea, even your death was painful to watch.

I was hoping Andrea would be left looked in that room forever. No one left who knows she's there.
For me the zombies don't really seem important anymore. Just set decoration. Other humans are such a more dangerous threat that they have been marginalized. I was wondering what the threat to the group would be after the governor was gone.
Some of these Woodbury people they took in may still be loyal to the governor and plot against the group. Carl doesn't trust any of them and will be keeping a sharp eye out.

Killing off Andrea was bullshit. It was a cop-out after an entire season of annihilating the character; almost as if the writers had contempt for the character after their own mistreatment of it and had to punish it.

And now the prison is a nursing home? Choice.

Re: The Walking Dead -- Season Finale -- "Welcome to the Tombs" -- 3/31/13

Also, they'll probably make suppy runs to Woodbury from time to time. Probably take along a newcomer who knows where shit is. On one of these outings a loyalist could come in contact with governor letting him know he has friends inside the prison.
The group may disregard any legitimate concerns Carl has, thinking he is overly distrustful.
Thinking they'll extend this story arc another season. Season 2 was the farm season, this season was expected to be the prison/governor season. Instead it'll be seasons three and four. Next season's finale will be the final showdown with the governor and resolution of story arc we were expecting. This crappy season finale may be just a regular mid-season episode as far as the story arc goes.

I wonder if the finale is what Mazzara envisioned or if Gimple simply asked him not to kill off certain characters he planned to use in Season 4. I agree that was a pretty weak finale. The episode itself wasn't all that bad (it would have been fine during any other point in the season), but it lacked any surprises...I mean, is there anyone here that didn't think Andrea was going to bite it?!

The only nice surprise was that Hershel lives on to Season 4. Nice because he was originally intended to be killed off at the end of Season 2.

So the Governor wanders off into the distance, still alive, they stay at the prison (most likely because AMC spent a lot of money on the set and didn't want to have another for next season), Carl is becoming a psychopath, and they have tons of new mouths to feed. Basically, we get not closure for the season. That was kind of a letdown. Oh, and Andrea, in spite of freeing herself in time, still gets bitten?

I'm glad they didn't wrap everything up with neat little bow. The situation is messy complicated, people don't always make good choices, and everything shouldn't all resolve at once. I had no problem with this episode.

Why would you expect closure in a series like this? AMC wants to leave you hanging so you can't wait to tune in next October. I have no doubt that everyone complaining will definitely be on board for season 4.

This. People wanted a "movie" ending to the season. What we got was far more interesting.

Touche. I'll be tuning in. But that doesn't change my opinion that it was an unsatisfactory ending. Heck, it isn't technically a even a proper cliffhanger. But hey, I'm dumb enough to keep watching.

Re: The Walking Dead -- Season Finale -- "Welcome to the Tombs" -- 3/31/13

The episode was disappointing to me because it did not end in a cliffhanger. This is the first season of watching this show that when it ended, I did not think "OMG.. almost a year before it comes on again??!! How can I possibly wait?!" This season it was, "Um ok. Lots of new mouths to feed. Catch you in October."

Which was stupid. All they had to do was wait for them to enter the prison. Disable the cars and mounted guns. And pick everyone off as they were running out of the prison.

The Governor mowing everyone down with no resistance whatsoever was beyond stupid.

At least Andrea died. That said, they tried to milk her death and I felt nothing. I actually felt sorry for Merle when he died in the previous episode. Andrea registered not a single emotion from me.

Fuck that noise. The Woodbury army comes in with grenade launchers and a .50 cal Browning, and I'm going to let them walk away? I would have at least shot those shooting at me, especially Martinez and the Gov. If that was the case to scare them, why did Rick, Michionne and Daryl have to go to Woodbury to "finish this"?

I'm siding with Carl. These people have constantly been trying to harm the group. Fuck 'em. He's more like Morgan now.

Terrible.
I think Andrea's problem is she could not accept that the world will never go back to being the same. She didn't kill the governor when he was sleeping because she hoped for a more peaceful solution. But it's a kill or be killed world now.

I don't think she wanted to accept that Milton would turn so she kept talking to him and hoping he was still alive. I thought it added a lot of tension. Also if you are tied up with limited foot movement then you would want to go very slowly. One false move and she could have kicked the pliers out of range.

Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at. I didn't hate it, but it had sort of an anti-cliffhanger effect in that it has actually dampened my enthusiasm for next season a bit. I'm about as excited as Carl for all these Woodbury red shirts to be in the mix next season, so useless that even the Governor can't use them as fodder. All those episodes spent in Woodbury and the only 'newbies' we know are Tyrese and his sister.

As for closure, I'm fine with them leaving me hanging... but at least bait the damn hook.

Re: The Walking Dead -- Season Finale -- "Welcome to the Tombs" -- 3/31/13

Very underwhelming, especially since we were expecting something great after all the build up. At least Tyrese should play a more prominent role next season. Even if David Morrissey is a series regular, that doesn't mean he'll last long next season. Sarah Wayne Callies was a series 3 "regular" and we saw how little screen time her character had. Could be the same for The Gov. They could end his character after 3-4 episodes next season. I hope so. The Gov. storyline has definitely run its course. We've seen him fully reach crazy. There's nothing more to the character than for him to get wasted.
