re: Valerie Harper diagnosed with terminal brain cancer [UPDATE: Dead at 80]

Doesn't she have wealthy friends in the industry willing to throw some decent money her way?

She deserves medical assistance as much as anyone, but it bothers me that someone who's actually still connected to wealthy people are drawing money from regular people to get help simply because they're a celebrity.... and regular people who need financial assistance for medical issues have to struggle.

Doesn't sound good for Valerie. Doctors have recommended that she go into hospice care and her husband is in denial and won't do it.

I don't get the feeling that he's in denial, but rather wants to care for her himself. If he's able to do that, I don't see a problem.

Does sound bad for Valerie.

He should let a hospice nurse care for her at their house. They've had training and won't be so emotionally connected.

Sad to see that she finally succumbed to the cancer, but not surprising considering she was in hospice.

As sad as it is that she's gone, her battle with cancer really was inspirational.

Given 3 months to live she made it another 6 years. To age 80. That's amazing.

This does make me feel old. I remember when The Mary Tyler Moore Show was first on and Mary & Valerie were young. I will always think of them that way.

You definitely need to check out the Mary Tyler Moore show, my personal favorite sitcom of all time. A classic.

RIP Rhoda

It's one of those rare shows that got better and better as it went along. I much prefer the show in it's later seasons to the early seasons.

And that was after Mary was on another all time great, groundbreaking show a few years earlier (The Dick Van Dyke Show).

They are two of my all time favorites.
