The Americans - "COMINT" -- 02/27/2013

A network of KGB informants is threatened. Meanwhile, Philip and Elizabeth are tasked with infiltrating the FBI's communications-encryption system

Re: The Americans - "COMINT" -- 02/27/2013

Why would the FBI change their encryption so quickly? They should have at least waited until they picked up their two targets. They didn't realize that changing encryption right after finding out they cracked it would be a big red flag?

Otherwise I enjoyed the episode. I hope they don't kill off the Russian informant. She is way too good looking to get rid of.

The scene in the mechanic shop may have been the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Liked the episode though.

Forgot about that. That was also ridiculously stupid. Wouldn't damage like that need to be repaired overnight? Maybe try to hit the trunk then?

Great episode. Yeah, that scene in the mechanic shop wasn't great, but other than that another high for me.

It could be just a standard spy show and it would be good, but I love how they humanize all the main characters. That gives you a whole new dimension. It's hard to look at them like the good or bad guys.

And they keep advancing the story, slowly (I like that!), but they do.

Re: The Americans - "COMINT" -- 02/27/2013

I guess the only thing that saved the mechanic shop sequence was that Phillip wasn't able to catch up and find the car with Elizabeth in the trunk. If he would have been right behind that car that would have been ridiculous.

Very good episode. As Raul3 said the character development and humanizing them is really good. They really know how to go deep with it. The FBI guy is really battling some things. I couldn't tell for sure if he was starting to fall for the informant. He at least cares about her but I don't know if he will take it to the next level with her.

I don't see how she can live that long. I don't see how she can live past the next ep, in fact, unless her boss is really stupid. Edit: or he dies himself.

My problem was just the sheer risk of being seen any anyone in the garage/walking by the open garage doors, etc. It's not like the cars being up on the lifts really hide them from sight at all.

Still, I really do like this show and Felicity is great in it.

Yeah, the repair shop scene was dumb writing, and the fbi both likely burning a source and not using that leak to their advantage was dumb theory. It's not like this was the early days of the cold war where they didn't know any better.

That was so over the top, literally and figuratively, but I still dug the episode. The characters are all very great to watch.

Good bj's I'm sure will extend her lifespan on the show for a bit.

And yeah, the FBI guy clearly is starting to fall for her.

The biggest problem in this episode was showing that the men end up giving out secret information after the "favors" from the women. Reality would be them giving up the goods in an attempt to make it happen.

2 weeks in a row Elizabeth has put a bullet in someone's head. I like that they're not trying to show them as good guys to the audience.
