Parks and Recreation - "Leslie and Ben/Correspondents' Lunch" -- 02/21/2013

Leslie and Ben have two hours to complete a yearlong project; at the same time, Ron's temper gets him in trouble. Later, Leslie is at a loss for words after the speech she prepared for a special event is stolen. Meanwhile, Ben begins his new job at the Sweetums Charity Foundation; and Ann summons the courage to ask an important question.

I'm guessing that Ann is going to ask Chris to be a sperm donor.

Any DirecTV customers have a problem with recording the first of two episodes? I don't have a whole home DVR, but I have it set to record in three rooms of the house. Every room recorded only 17 minutes of the first episode. But then it went on to completely record the second episode.

If the first episode HAD been the series finale, it would have been perfect. I'm glad it wasn't but that was a damn fine half hour of television.

Nope. No issues.

I loved how Gerry got so excited at the Lil' Sebastian look-alike he peed himself. "third time this week."

Ann was funny in this episode. I don't know how I feel about her looking for a sperm donor but her asking Chris was really funny.

Everything else was great too. I'm looking forward to some Ben/Andy story lines, those are usually really funny.

Very funny episode--loved Gerry pissing himself over the Lil' Sebastian look-alike.

The Leslie/Ben romance and wedding storyline has been--unlike similar plots on a lot of other shows--not obnoxious or overly drippy.

Ron making the wedding rings out of a light sconce and using a waffle iron was hilarious. "People who buy things are suckers."

Awesome stuff. Donna, Jerry, Ben and Leslie, and of course Ron. The Ann/Chris stuff was okay. Didn't care for Andy's storyline, though I feel bad for him.

I too had a problem with Directv recording it. I noticed about 25 min in that it had stopped recording at around the 17 minute mark. I pushed record again and it recorded the whole episode as a new separate recording. Very strange.

Yes, unfortunately. The first episode was listed as both "Leslie and Ben; Correspondent's Dinner", but it only recorded 15 minutes of the first episode (ours cut out with Ron telling Jamm he didn't understand how big a mistake he was making).a

My genie DVR is screwed up and does that for every show and the picture disappears.

Once I finish the shows on this DVD I will get it replaced.

I think Donna is a singer in real life.

"How did Cinderella finish her dress so fast? Birds and squirrels, yeah that's not gonna work"

Wish we could see more of that nude painting with the Sweetums executive. Not the old guy of course.

That totally happened to me (I had it recording on both DVRs since our 5-er gets flukey) and I blamed my husband...now I feel bad.

My episode also cut off after 15 minutes, but the second one recorded fine.

What's wrong with the ratings for this show? It was heavily advertised as featuring the wedding of the main character and it hit a series low. Yikes! Thankfully it's on NBC otherwise it would have been cancelled by now.

maybe it suffered from not having a new episode of the office on the same night.

I think its probably the best comedy going now so hopefully they'll stick with it

It constantly goes against the second most popular sitcom on TV and NBC wonders why it doesn't do better.

Funny, that's how I felt while watching it too. It's like the last 30 minutes of a movie.

I think they are aware. They just know they have nothing that'll do better (and if they replace it, that show will do worse).

Or everybody else is watching that bad karaoke show on FOX and that lame aging medical drama on ABC.

That too. I'm saying that anything will underperform there and they know it.
