Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2184980/combined
Tagline: He's twice the man you think he is. Plot: A brilliant neurosurgeon who has to battle his own alter-ego so that he can live a normal life. Stars Stephen Pasquale mostly known as Sean Garrity on Rescue Me. Also Starrying Phylicia Rhashad. Not sure if this is a straight drama or a lighter drama, comedy infused. Filmed in and around Philadelphia so that has me in for at least a few episodes. |

I like the premise, and it is set to record, although I'm not sure I can ever fully accept White Shawn as a serious actor.

P.S. And it's straight drama. Not light. Not comedy-infused (e.g. no yellow bandana). The producers called it a cross between House and Dexter. While that may be a bit of stretch, (though it has a bit of a House vibe), I like their ambitions. |
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
This seems to be NBC's "Awake" for this season. Somewhat similar concepts (dual personalities instead of dual realities). Same time slot. Almost certain to not get a second season. Hopefully it will be as good as Awake was.

Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
I am normally not into a lot of network shows (a few rare ones this season), but I thought this one looked and sounded good enough for me to watch. I like White Shawn and he seems like a perfect fit for this type of show. I'll give it a go.
Oh and Alana de la Garza is in it, so that is even more reason to watch, even if it is terrible  |
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
Is this an American-ized version of the UK show Jekyll (usually 10 pm dramas are after all)?

Let alone having him carry a drama series. I'll check it out though.
P.S. And according to IMDB, he was (White) Sean. |
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
Pasquale's wife for some who may not know is Laura Benanti on Go On.
I'll check this out, but apparently in recent years nobody watches NBC on Thursday at 10pm. Scandal and Elementary will probably kick it's ass. |

In for the pilot! |
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
Do No Harm capped NBC’s night with premiere numbers of 3.1 mil/0.9, down 55 percent in the demo from Awake‘s own Thursdays-at-10 premiere and marking — wait for it — the lowest-rated, in-season debut of any scripted Big 4 series ever. |
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
Wow, I DVR'd this but may not even bother watching it given the dismal ratings.
|
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
I knew it wouldn't do good in this timeslot, but damn that's horrible. Worst than Awake last year. The folks at tvbythenumbers.com are probably proclaiming its DOA.

Expect Rock Center to come back to soon.

Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
This is what happens when you have a lead in the show that nobody has really seen or heard of. Sure, many of us have seen him in Rescue Me, but we aren't really representative of the regular tv watching public.
|
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
Wouldn't NBC be better served with "To Catch a Predator" on Thursdays at 10pm? That show would kill the competition.

Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
I loved Moffat's Jeckyll like mad, at least the setup and first four eps (I think; of the six.) Thought they were sorta heading the wrong direction as it became a conspiracy show. Still... so much potential; I never understood why it died so fast with only the one series.
And I've been waiting for someone to pick up the torch. But it seemed clear to me from the premise and promos that this wasn't really what I wanted. The day/night 8:25 50-50 split didn't intrigue me as much as it just sounded dumb. |
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
This is what, like the 3rd show now with split personalities thats failed on NBC in the last 5 years? Why do they keep bothering?
|
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
to be fair, he didn't have split personalities in Awake. he was in 2 different realities.
|
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
Right...but I guess I mean...shows with similar concepts. The other was My Own Worst Enemy right? Were there others?

Exactly that was one of my concerns. Outside of a small hardcore TV watching audience, not many people know who Steven Pasquale is. Yeah he was in Rescue Me as a supporting character and in one of the Alien vs Predator movies, but he isn't known enough to carry a show.

Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
That is a shame on the ratings, I enjoyed the show.
Oh well, looks like I can find something else to watch. |
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
I'm not going to bother wasting my time. With ratings that low, it's a dead show walking. It's going to get pulled.
|
Re: Do No Harm - Thursday nights - 10:00 NBC
It's actually a very solid pilot, particularly for an NBC show. NBC ruined this show's chances with the awful name. I actually thought it was going to be a regular medical drama before watching it, solely going off the name. They named it like a staid drama you would watch on CBS.
If the name had conveyed any idea it was connected to a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde concept, it would have gotten better ratings. The concept is fairly unbelievable, because it is huge stretch to believe the head of neurosurgery could get away with losing 12 hours a day for the past five years without massive problems. I was willing to look past that problem since everything else seemed in place. |
