The show has taken place in the 60s since the beginning. They're almost in to 1970 now.

Love those b&w photos Mad Men should try doing what The Walking Dead does and air episodes in b&w just for giggles. Though color was pretty much the norm by the mid-late 60s.

Show started in '59. But yeah, it's mostly been the '60. Although what most people think of when they talk about "the '60s" is actually from about '66 to '72.

Pretty positive the first season takes place at the beginning of the year 1960.

edit: wikipedia - Season one takes place between March and November 1960.

Every time I see a picture of Pete Campbell, it brings back the image of Lane punching him in the face.

Can't wait for this season!

I thought the idea from the beginning was the show was going to take these characters through the 60's.

In the pilot, there is a shot of the calendar in the doctor's office that says March 1960.

I wonder if the final scene of the series will show the characters counting down the Times Square ball to 1970 and have it smash cut to black just before 1970 lights up.

Interesting artwork for the season premiere, wonder if that portends to a real focus on the illegalities of Draper's past.

There was talk of showing Don as an old man in modern times.

If we get a montage set to The Byrds "Turn Turn Turn" I'm going to have to quit watching.

Re: Mad Men Season 6 - April 7th Premiere

From a steamy onscreen affair to a real-life engagement!

Mad Men costars Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser are engaged to be married, a rep for the actress tells E! News.

The 31-year-old former Gilmore Girls star and her 33-year-old beau made their red carpet debut back in October, where they looked blissfully in love and incredibly happy to be together.

Bledel played an unhappy housewife in a series of episodes on the hit AMC series, where she seduces Kartheiser's seedy character Pete Campbell.

This will be the first marriage for the good-looking couple. No further details about the I-dos have been revealed.

Us Weekly first reported the engagement news, and sources tell the mag Vincent "proposed a few weeks ago" and the ring is "huge."
