Looks really cool and I'm a sucker for time travel shows.

Question, Directv is listing the episodes as repeats because of the original Canadian air dates. How can I record a season pass without recording every damn repeat?

Re: Continuum -- Series Premiere (SyFy) -- "A Stitch in Time" -- 1/14/13

Wow, that was really good. Glad I held out and waited until the U.S. premiere.

Lots of action in the episode and I liked the effects from the futuristic sequences.

Liked the little twist at the end that the Cigarette Smoking Man is Alec

I wonder how long Kiera can keep up the fake identity of being Portland PD. She has no ID and I'm surprised the Vacouver Cops haven't done any kind of background check on her.

I kind of like that Roger Cross is the leader of the bad guys. I mean shit, those guys are pretty hardcore storming into that Police Station and taking out those cops.

I'm totally in for the next 9 weeks.

I guess the main objective of the show is for Kiera to take out the gang and try to get home to her family. Young Alec is obviously her eyes and ears. Looks like them meeting in 2012 could change how things are in 2077.

I noticed a few SyFy channel alums in this episode.

Brian Markinson, who played the Inspector, was from Caprica and Sanctuary. I also saw Jennifer Spence from Stargate SGU. Lexa Doig, who is married to Michael Shanks, was part of that gang. She was on Eureka and SG-1.

Positives: Cigarette Smoking Man shows up, looking healthier than he last did on the X-Files

Negatives: Most everything else, because every aspect seemed like a fairly generic cop procedural with a sci-fi twist.

I did not buy at all the police department trusting a woman that randomly shows up at a crime scene, and then keeps ducking questions about her commanding officer. I'll give it a few episodes, but it will be an uphill climb.

How did you make the assessment that it's a Sci-Fi Cop procedural?

There are 10 convicts who Kiera has to catch who are fairly dangerous and have a potential negative impact on the future. Plus she's stuck in 2012 while her family is in 2077. She needs to try to find a way to get home without the events of her being in 2012 changing things. And now meeting Alec's younger self could also change things. I think it brings up so many different possibilities than being standard 1 off episodes.

I do agree with you about the Vancouver PD trusting her without any ID or verification from her superiors seems very very fetched.

A 2nd season has already been greenlit, so I assume the writers have a long-term plan for this character.

I found the show cheesy but Nichols is smoking hot.

Oh, yes she is!

The show is OK.

I fanwanked that the reason the cops trusted her so easily was simply because they’re Canadian and not too bright.

The male lead is a police detective, the female lead is a cop from the future. The most interesting thing about the show is the supposed unpredictability and danger of the criminal gang from the future, but that implied threat was undermined by the horrible stunt fighting in the scene where they killed some cops.

At first I thought she had received a horrible make-up job. It's clear as day in HD.

For those that watched the Canadian run and checked out the US premiere, notice any edits for the Syfy version?

I don't know about the Canadian version, but they edited out some swear words. Main chick said "shit" but they muted it.

Which I found odd considering they didn't do that for Lost Girl. But then again they're giving that one an "MA" rating.

I thought by now "shit" was an accepted word on Television. The show's on after the 9:00 hour.

It was interesting enough for me to keep watching. I agree that the cops not asking future girl for any ID was a bit far fetched but I'll let that go for now.

Re: Continuum -- Series Premiere (SyFy) -- "A Stitch in Time" -- 1/14/13

Evan, Syfy is not airing Continuum "after the 9:00 hour" -- it starts at 8pm (with a TV-14), which I'm sure is why the s-word was censored.
