Anyone going to be watching this tonight besides me and Deftones? Seems like we're the only ones who actually subscribe to the network.

Seems like shows that aren't on HBO or Showtime get little interest here.

It looks interesting from the preview trailer. So many weird things if you watch it a few times. I hope it's better than Hunted. I liked that show, but it was too convoluted. I guess since Alan Ball is attached, it should be halfway decent.

I'll be watching. Alan Ball's behind it so I expect fun and copious nudity.

LOL basically everything Hunted wasn't.

Agree about Hunted. Way too convoluted. It was a nice looking well acted show, but after an episode I didn't really understand the plot half the time.

Hope Banshee is easier to follow like Strike Back.

I'll check this out. I agree with hoping this a little more like Strike Back and less like Hunted. I still have to watch the last two episodes of Hunted, not that I know what's going on.

Since this is a free preview weekend for Cinemax, why not? Maybe it'll be good enough for me to switch over until Game of Thrones starts.

anyone watch this yet?

I liked it well enough to tune in next week. The setting is intriguing and the main villain is sick and twisted but I'm not really feeling the male and female lead characters yet. I would rather watch the barkeeper and cute deputy cracking skulls at this point.

Well, that was interesting. Not sure what to think yet, but I'll continue.

Oh and  at the giant "Strike Back" bus flying at the main character. Talk about "in your face" advertising.

Re: Banshee -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/11/13

I really liked it.

Should be some good mindless fun (which Cinemax appears to be doing fairly well at). I liked the lead (Antony Starr) and the fact that he's a relative unknown. Also good to see Ivana Milicevic show up as Hood's ex. I first saw her in the short-lived HBO series The Mind of the Married Man over 10 years ago and have been a fan ever since. The town heavy is also pretty good -- I last recall seeing him in The Thing prequel.

Curious to know how much oversight Alan Ball really has here. The credits only listed him as an EP (from what I recall).

I believe he's the co-showrunner with Greg Yaitanes. Yaitanes is directing alot of the episodes. But I think getting his name attached to this show helped get it made.

Going to try to watch this sometime today.

It was entertaining, but I'm not interested enough to subscribe to Cinemax to continue with it.

Did it remind anyone else of Preacher? Particularly the "Salvation" story arc? Badass comes to a small town, meets someone from his past, assumes the role of sheriff, finds himself in opposition to a "boss"-figure who runs a meat-packing plant.

Re: Banshee -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/11/13

 Fucking loved it. That was a badass, ball busting kickass hour of TV. Really surprised with Antony Starr. For a guy who's unknown, he was pretty damn good as Hood.

rotfl at the Strike Back tour bus. Talk about subliminal advertising.

The scene where he took out Procter's goons with the Fork and the A-1 Steak Sauce bottle was sick.

I also liked Frankie Faison as the sort of sidekick/confidant to Hood. Lots of really interesting characters in this setting.

 Plus, it also satisfied the gratuitous sex and nudity requirement that Cinemax shows need.

 at Job triggering the bomb on the Russian goons.

Looks like we got 2 main villains. Procter and then Ben Cross' character Rabbit. I guess Hood and his ex stole from Rabbit.

Really good start.

I count 5 people who watched the premiere and one says he won't subscribe to Cinemax to continue.

Anyone else? Your missing out. I already noted my comments above.

Other than when the thugs let the cross dressing Asian just walk right out of the room by himself I thought it was pretty good.

Watched it today. Fun stuff. Can't wait to see what happens next.

LOL though when the new sheriff met his daughter (yeah that's obvious) specially with the "13 my ass" line I started chuckling going "Oh geez, they're using Nashville's plotline already."

Re: Banshee -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/11/13

I watched this last night thanks to the free OD preview. It must have been a while since I watched a 'premium' series, as the violence and nudity was dialed up a notch (or two). Unfortunately I'm not in a position to get Cinemax right now so I'll probably have to wait until the blu-ray/dvd release to watch the rest of this season.

Yeah, he said he had to get the documents out of the safe. I assumed he had a weapon in the safe then blew up the shop to hide everything, and we just didn't see him dispatching Rabbit's thugs. This was proven incorrect though when 'spider tat' thug showed up later.

I was already thinking that when they were talking in the back yard, and he was asking how old they were. Then the id check you mention telegraphed it even more.

Cool premiere. Reminded me a little of Justified. I Like that there are two outside forces threatening him, the town's mob and the mob he ripped off.

Pretty clear the girl is his daughter. Not sure why they telegraphed that so early in the season, though.

Re: Banshee -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/11/13

I barely recognized the daughter as the smart daughter from Lights Out until I checked IMDB.

I liked it too and will definitely keep watching. When he's first arriving in Banshee and sees the Pennsylvania Dutch in the background I knew Alan Ball was going to be involving them in the plot... I was just expecting a Rumspringa episode, not for the heavy to be an ex-member though. :)

I totally missed the fact that the girl is his daughter so thanks for pointing it out. Apparently I don't pay enough attention because it was heavily telegraphed.

 me neither, apparently.

I just caught the premiere...I really liked it. The bar brawl was awesome.
