It's funny,.....Charisma Carpenter accuses Joss Whedon of harassment/bullying.
Everyone: "I support you/Stand by you".

Gina Carano accusing Lucasfilm of bullying.
Everyone: 😆😆😆/ Canceled/Fired.

I guess we'll see how this plays out.

You seem to be very confused because these aren't analogous at all.

Charisma Carpenter = victim
Gina Carano = bully

Carano is not the victim here.

"Her side?" She tweeted her thoughts for the world to hear. What else is there to tell?

I'm not sure what you're expecting to "play out." She said some horribly offensive things. An employer fired a problematic employee over said things (after she had reportedly been given multiple chances). End of story.

Trying to not make this political, which got this thread locked. I don't think "bully" is the right word. She expressed views on her social media that don't represent the views of Disney and were deemed very negative, which got a number of people very upset. That's really more of what transpired and Disney gave her multiple chances to tone it down, but she didn't let up. I think her lack of remorse for people she offended is probably what made the majority angry and could be deemed "bully" behavior. And now she claims she was "bullied" by Disney. I mean C'mon. You're a public figure, she signed a contract and you should be respectful to your colleagues and your employer while under contract.

Either way.... I'd like to hear what she has to say.

Same for Joss Whedon... assuming he ever addresses his accusations.

The two have nothing to do with each other. In the Whedon case it's a He Said, She Said. Here it's all out in the open. She wanted to express controversial opinions that were hurtful to others, Disney told her to cut it out. She posted on social media that her plight was similar to Jews during the Holocaust, she got fired. What is there to expand on or deny? Do you think that Disney really told her they loved her social media posts or something?

Why are we even discussing about Gina anyways? Her side of the story? There it isn’t one. I’m even surprised that Disney even gave her a chance to “tone” down her Social Media posts instead of letting her go right away but she decided not to do it.

What’s so hard to understand? She’s not a victim here.

I guess I must have missed the part where the Jewish community was in an uproar , protesting, demanding her head. Do we have media sources citing these examples or are we simply assuming everyone is hurt?

Regardless...there's no harm in watching the interview tomorrow.

I'm Jewish, lost half my family in the Holocaust and was horribly offended. Is that enough for you?

I'm too tired to go look again, but there has been immediate uproars about each single offensive Carano posted. The uproar was mostly through social media because this is 2021 and we are in the middle of a pandemic. You keep focusing on her last post, but her offensive trolling had been going on for a while. I still don't understand why this is the hill you are willing to die for when the evidence is clearly there. This isn't a he said/she said. It's all about what she posted. And again, is not only that she was offensive, it is that she's a legal liability to Disney.

Re: The Mandalorian -- Star Wars -- News, rumors, etc. -- possible spoilers

I mean, I suppose Carano could produce evidence that Disney encouraged her to be controversial on social media and then got cold feet and fired her, but I’d be very surprised if that had happened.

The comparison with Charisma Carpenter seems weird and random, other than they’re both in the news at the same time. I’m a big fan of Whedon’s work and rarely think about Carpenter, but I’m bothered by the alleged conduct, and I don’t feel the need to reflexively defend him because of some perceived “sides.”

Yep, the inmates are running the asylum at Lucasfilm....what a shame. I often wonder if SW would be in a better state if there were no more films after the OT.

I watched the whole interview and felt sympathetic 🤷🏻‍♂️

Granted, I ignore the trending hashtags that call for people to get cancelled. So I can’t say I know the whole backstory.

I've said it in other threads, everytime Hollywood tries to be PC, I just remind myself they decided to keep Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulting everyone a secret for decades. But apparently now I should look to Hollywood as a role model about how to be PC...

Why wouldn't Lucasfilm have a social media policy that employees not post negatively about current contract talent? Hell we have a zero tolerance policy for posting anything negative about our competitors...

Probably because they were hiring for a Social Media Manager? 🤷‍♂️

I remember seeing the job posting when that Pablo Hidalgo stuff went down.

Re: The Mandalorian -- Star Wars -- News, rumors, etc. -- possible spoilers

I watched the entire 1 hour interview. But, since this is a Mandalorian thread and not a why was Gina Carano cancelled thread, I won't go into it. But, to me she seemed pretty sincere with her thoughts. But, then again, she had a contract, she was told to tone down the commentary, but she didn't listen. They were even going to reward her with her own series, which would have likely given her more stardom and a big pay bump. But she chose to ignore the warnings of her bosses. I don't know what she hope to get out of working with Shapiro, but it's going to be miniscule to what she could have had.

It is beyond ironic watching the same people who got Chuck Wendig shitcanned from writing Star Wars comic books two years ago over his social media posts being mean to conservatives now bellyaching about Gina Carano getting fired from The Mandalorian.

I guess "Cancel Culture" is a one-way street...

So, she claims, she new they were watching her social media postings because she accidentally got an e-mail saying so. She continued to tweet/retweet controversial things. She got fired. Not sure what the news is here. I mean, a right leaning "victim" pleads her case to her new right leaning boss on his right leaning show. I didn't expect anything would come out of it that would change anything.

I give you credit for that. And I also don't want to go on much more with this detour either. You work in the media right? I'm an artist on games... so pretty much woke central. If I were to post about politics from the right - it absolutely would impact my career and working relationships - which is why I don't say anything at all - and I don't engage in conversation at the office (when we used to work at the office) on anything to do with politics or religion either. There is a clear double standard - I accept it, it's just part of the game... just hoping to keep things secret for another 20 yrs until retirement.

While I don’t agree with her politics and the shit she posted, I’m glad she’s gone. Not because of those things however, but because she’s a horrible actress and easily the weak link on the show.
