Depends on if they are starting from scratch or adapting completed work. Lucas handed over something like 50 hours of script that were already written but never went anywhere.

I generally like Favreau's work, so i'll be interested in what he puts together.

Yeah. Why couldn't they get one of those women from the "The View"? What's up with that?
The director whose film launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to a galaxy far, far away. Jon Favreau, the filmmaker behind Iron Man, Elf, and Disney’s live-action Jungle Book and Lion King, will write and executive-produce a live-action Star Wars series for Disney’s new streaming platform. Lucasfilm announced today that Favreau, who is also an actor with roles in the Clone Wars animated series and the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, will helm the new show. While Favreau has a strong fanbase (going all the way back to his 1996 debut film Swingers), many on social media are wondering why Lucasfilm has hired yet another white man to steer the diverse Star Wars universe — and announced it on International Women’s Day, no less.

Well I for one won't be paying for a Disney Streaming Service subscription.
I don't pay for any streaming platforms though... friends tend to just share their accounts.

In the old legends, the Thrawn trilogy was 5 years post ROTJ and Dark Empire 6 years past, so this neatly steps past both of those. I wonder if they could make references to those events?

They won't, because those events didn't happen in the new continuity

They used Thrawn enough in Rebels. No thanks.

Rebels has a great final story arc. They handled why we don’t see Ezra or Thrawn in the OT in a very cool way.

$100 million. Disney is pretty confident with this project.
Ah, Mandalore. Boba's homeworld. The Legacy of the Force books had Mandalore like a whole society of armored warriors just like Boba. But a Clone Wars episode had them like a peaceful society.
Did Rebels have Mandalore?

Yes, the Mandolorians were part of an important storyline in Rebels, and one of the main characters was Mandolorian (Sabine Wren).

Not excited about this. The Mandalorian stuff on Clone Wars and Rebels was dull as dirt.
The Darksaber was kind of cool, though. Hopefully it makes an appearance.

Unless I’m missing something, the article has no mention of Mandalore.
Edit: I see other sites are reporting a rumor about that. Yea. That isn’t too interesting.

If this show ends up being like Rebels, it'll be a bust. Rebels is fine for what it is -- a show that excites my 10 year old. Disney needs to go more GoT (in terms of violence and grit) than Disney XD... but they won't and it'll just end up as being corny.
