New Star Trek Sheep? Like, OMG???
 
That's the question, isn't it?

For those of you that don't know, I was one of the more prolific Sheepmasters around these parts. I think I ran 47 games. Then I stopped because fuck it.

But, orangecrush revived Sheep: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/video-game-...heep-game.html

And hell, I'm never too busy--I think I'll run another one. Who wants it? It's going to be Star Trek Sheep, because:

a) I already have some questions
b) I want to and it's my game, get over it

I'd prefer we do a few more general games (like TV Sheep, Movie Sheep, etc) before getting back into the "deep dives", but if you run it, I will play it.

They're basically trivia with a twist.

Sheep questions: the goal is to choose an answer that you think many other players will also answer.

Reverse Sheep questions: the goal is to choose an answer that you think no other player will answer.

    • Name a species that appears in at least 3 episodes of TNG

  • Each contestant sends the organizer of the game a PM with their answers to the questions
  • The organizer tallies up all the answers. On each question, each player is awarded one point for every answer that matches his own answer, including his own. For example, if you said "Captain Kirk" and 8 other players also said "Captain Kirk," you would get 9 points (one for your answer and 8 for the 8 players you matched). As in golf, low score is better, so it's actually -9 points instead of 9.
  • Some questions are "reverse sheep" questions, where you are trying to match as few people as possible. So if that were a reverse sheep question and you answered "Picard," but only 4 other people picked Picard, you would get +5 points while the Kirk people would get +9.
  • Reverse sheep leads to a lot of fun debates over whether an answer is correct. Incorrect answers in sheep are fine -- if you're wrong, but everyone matches you, you all get credit. In reverse sheep, though, you only get credit for correct answers (otherwise, you could answer with something incredibly wrong like "Darth Vader" and be pretty confieent nobody would match you).
  • For this reason, the more opinion-oriented questions ("Name the best," "Name your favorte,") tend to be sheep questions, while the reverse sheep questions tend to have a finite number of correct answers -- enough so that there's room for a person knowledgable about Star Trek history to come up with a good, obscure answer, but not so many that everybody winds up with a unique answer just because there's hundreds of legitimate possibilities to choose from.
  • There are wrinkles like unique bonuses and slam dunks that show up in some games. Tracer will explain how those work if he decides to use them.
