Re: The Big Bang Theory -- "The Egg Salad Equivalency" -- 1/03/12

I thought this one was pretty funny. The part when the guys were all getting messages about being called to the human resources office and were telling the girls about it and Raj was there with his dog and asked if it could stop licking it's ass for a minute and listen made me . Also I wonder if the Alex/Leonard thing will go any further or if it'll be swept under the rug.

Best laughs of the season when Sheldon was in Human Resources.
Especially when he called her a slave.

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- "The Egg Salad Equivalency" -- 1/03/12

I like Alex but it was painful to see the writers making Sheldon so stupid just to set up this predictable situation. It reminded me of the idiotic things Urkel would do on Family Matters that would infuriate Carl. I know Sheldon is socially inept but I didn't care for this episode at all. Plus, Leonard was pretty stupid too, to let Sheldon know about it.

Spoke too soon though. Leonard playing the violin was pretty funny. Him having some self confidence for once and bragging about himself being cute was hilarious.

But yeah, that was the highlight.

I liked this episode.

Is anyone else fan of Penny's facial expressions? She really makes me laugh, specially the faces she makes after an Amy comment.

They so should've fired him, maybe then the plot would actually go somewhere. Sheldon is a dick. He began as amusing in his social ineptitude, now he's a raging misogynist, egocentric asshole. Kind of wish he'd gotten his comeuppance, and that they'd have a storyline that ran for more than one episode. A lot of cringe-humor in this episode, but a funny one. And Penny does look hot in glasses!

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- "The Egg Salad Equivalency" -- 1/03/12

Kaley Cuoco is a very talented comedienne, the way she gets laughs out of facial expressions and eye rolls when playing against the guys is pretty damn fun to watch. She was totally hot with glasses.

Didn't care for the episode itself, I agree with hanshotfirst that Sheldon may be slightly ignorant of social cues and interactions, but he's not a sexist moron. Throwing his friends under the bus on purpose isn't something I think he'd do, especially when I'm sure he would likely consider the whole HR department as the equivalent of typing monkeys.

I don't see Sheldon as being a misogynist. Seems like everything he says and believes in is based on scientific studies, so I don't think what he said about how women act and behave is untrue. I don't think he mentioned his friends just to get them in trouble, he just has no filter and blurts out whatever is essentially true.

Last night's episode got the show's highest ratings ever. Pretty unheard of for a show in its 6th season.

It's going to be very interesting to see the endgame for this show. Given the level of quality deemed to be accepable (admittedly rather low for a sitcom I enjoy) and the ratings, this thing might just go 10 seasons unless the cast tires of it. Somehow, I don't see that being all that likely.

Sheldon's not a misogynist. He thinks everyone's beneath him, not specifically women.

Yep. This really didn't bug me at all. It is completely consistent with the way Sheldon acts. It was incredibly paternalistic, but Sheldon has misguided urges to set just about everybody (up to and including a traffic court judge) straight. He's the guy who has what now 3 restraining orders from idols of his? He's not a pleasant guy.

He is socially inept. He has trouble understanding the normal conventions of the world. Is this so hard to get?

I have aspergers, I'm socially inept too, but I'm not this big of an asshole. Besides, you'd think he have learned something in the six seasons, undergone some kind of character development.

Spend some time in academia. There's a decent percentage of people like that, especially in the hard sciences (and English departments for some reason).

My cousin's always been "gifted" and went through honors, and high end computer science in college. He's socially normal, but friends of his I've met continuously over the last 10 years or so haven't "matured" anymore than Sheldon has. One of the key points to growth is the desire to improve yourself, and Sheldon clearly doesn't think he needs to. I think a cool "cliffhanger" season ender would be Sheldon doing something so over the top that he gets fired and has to start the new season finding a job.

PS Penny is hot and all, but I'd take the assistant any day!

Yep. Obviously Sheldon's character is exaggerated somewhat for the purpose of this being a sitcom but I think it's safe to say that a lot of people have encountered a Sheldon type of person in real life. Self centered and having social skills but not using them like most people do.

This most likely would never happen on this show. I love the show but it's just a simple network sitcom. These types of shows don't really go for big storylines like that for the most part. People looking for more out of a show like this are setting themselves up for disappointment. I just enjoy the show for what it is, which is a decently funny sitcom sprinkled with nerd humor.

You're not as socially inept as he is then, since he isn't even aware that he's being an asshole.

I'd say Sheldon has shown some character development with his relationship with Amy.

Er, you're a real person, not a character in a sitcom.
