I think the original season 3 plans had Lee coming back as a third character.

Since the actor who played Bob is dead they are in talks with Hayden Christensen.

No, there was that annoying little "Problem Child" like kid that Andy and Dick played Big Brothers to for a few episodes. I want to say his name was "Nicky."

Well, since the fuckers that be on Netflix took down BSG, maybe I'll have a look-see at the original series to prep . Naruto is ending and Twin Peaks is coming back, has anyone checked the temperature in hell, it must be cold .
Incidentally, was there ever and audiobook of Frost's List of Seven?

Since the show was produced by CBS and the new BD's were just released by CBS, It makes perfect sense for Showtime, a CBS subsidiary, to produce this limited series. At least Lynch and Frost will have the freedom to produce R rated material. I don't think anyone would have been happy if this were picked up by a major network.
I already have Showtime, so I'll be looking out for it in 2 years.

Bingo. Frankly it was better when it didn't.
And hell, these days with what we see of the likes of Hannibal, all that's unique to pay cable is full on nudity and the f-bomb. And things can be sexy enough without nudity and f-bombs.

Spoken like someone who never saw the second episode of True Detective.

Yeah, the example of Hannibal is the complete exception to the rule. The fact that it's on broadcast TV is still surprising. It has all of the grit of a cable drama -- there's no other show on any of the other OTA channels that do. Honestly, I can't see another one coming along any time soon. Most networks won't broadcast something like that since they rely on advertisers too heavily to get backing.

Holy shit - this is great news. After 25 years that log is going to be a non-stop chatterbox.

But was the nudity necessary to tell the story? Not really. But yeah, I enjoyed both of them for the briefs moments they were shown.
The point is that great work can be done without needing the nudity and f-bombs allowed on pay cable. Do you actually disagree with that?

Sorry to be late to the game but I had to revive this for the fact this news got my 2015 off to a great start. I re-watched Mulholland Drive the other night and was curious what Lynch was up to. I thought I was seeing things when I read the news. 25 years later and the fans will get the treat most never thought was possible. One thing is true: Old characters, new characters, any way you size it up, it will be brilliant. Rocking good news!

Kyle MacLachlan once more will play Special Agent Dale Cooper in Showtime’s upcoming Twin Peaks limited series, the network announced Monday.
The actor appeared on stage during the cable network’s presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, saying, “I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks.”
He then joked, “May the forest be with you.”
Fans have been clamoring for the actor to join the project since news of its 9-episode order broke in October. The present-day continuation of the eerie ’90s series will be written by creators David Lynch and Mark Frost; Lynch will direct every installment.
Production will begin “midway” through this year at “multiple locations,” likely including the series’ original Pacific Northwest home, said Showtime boss David Nevins.
“I hope to go back to Washington [state], yes,” he added, smiling.
The episodes will air in 2016, marking the 25th anniversary of the series finale.
“I think, in David’s mind, 25 years was the magic number,” Nevins said. “He pays attention to that kind of numerology in a big way.”
Agent Cooper’s final Peaks appearance involved him getting possessed by the evil spirit known as Bob and smashing his head into a mirror. MacLachlan’s career since then has included stints on Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, The Good Wife and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Nevins hinted at that MacLachlan’s casting may not be the only news of its kind.
“I expect there to be lots of people from the original cast back,” he said.
Showtime also released a photo of MacLachlan (below) that ardent Twin Peaks viewers will find mighty fine, indeed. (With reporting by Vlada Gelman and Matt Webb Mitovich)
