Any interest in a Cheers viewing club in January?
In my 30th anniversary thread Michael Corvin had the great idea to re-watch season 1 together. Since it's available on Amazon Instant, Netflx Streaming and on DVD it is easy to access.

Yeah, I was meaning to start it up but I was in the midst of watching season 11 at the time and wanted a break before jumping into another whole season. It's been in my mind since. I think it'd be fun.
Definitely in.

Nice! A first timer and a sizeable group (though I've only seen half of the first season as well). Thanks for the tip david, I posted in that thread.

I'm so in!
My favorite series of all time.
I actually saw a taping of Cheers, which was the 10th season premiere - "Baby Balk" - where Sam and Rebecca try to have a baby.
They told us it was the season premiere, even though it was the second show to be taped that season.
Some memories:
It was shot in chronological order of scenes.
The cold opening was a night-time scene where Norm drives Cliff home from Woody's wedding. The car was just a mock-up car on stage against a black background, and the stagehands were moving spotlights away from the car to represent headlights behind the car.
They played the theme song after the cold opening on the overhead monitors for the audience.
The bar set was to the left, Rebecca's apartment was to the right, and took up the space where the pool room would be. There was no pool room or Sam's office set.
The steps to Melville's led to nowhere. So did the steps outside of the bar.
The taping began at 7:30 and lasted til midnight. They tossed Tootsie Rolls to audience members to keep us awake during the long shoot.

So how does this work? Will there just be a thread or subforum opened up? Or some kind of a private topic?

Okay, I'll do it. I haven't seen that many episodes and it should be fun to watch it from the beginning.

Nice. We've got a good group, so far, but if anybody else wants to join this thread is for them. We can work on organizing next week or so.

Hey guys. If we all go message Ken Levine over at his blog, it's possible he may partake as well. He was a writer for Cheers throughout the run. I'll post the address and we can all pick a day to post the message!

I'm possibly in for this. I have the first four seasons on DVD and I also have Amazon Prime so can watch it there too. I've seen a good bulk of the episodes but not all of them so it would be a fun watch.
