It's unbelievable how this show tops itself every week. I was literally saying "Oh my god, Oh my god!" when Brody let the VP die. Never have any idea what's going to happen next and never a dull moment for me.

Yep. It was like I was witnessing the series finale. Absolutely beautiful.

I don't think I've ever screamed 'nooooo' when a TV show went to credits before tonight. It's amazing how masterfully this show subverts expectations & keeps you on the edge of you seat each & every week.

It was like something out of the Omen movies.

I knew pacemakers could be reprogrammed using magnetic devices but didn't believe they could be remotely accessed like that. Glad to know it might be real and not just something the show made up. Fantastic episode! What is Estes up to pulling Saul from going to the mill?

Also, logic question, can you really do Facetime on a blackberry? thats what it seemed like Abu Nazir was using and Brody had a blackberry

That was the first thing my wife did when the show was over.

I still hate that Carrie decided to go by herself, without a weapon... really?

The man she's devoted her life for the past decade to trying to capture and/or kill was right down the road (and there didn't seem to be a lot of people with him, if any). I'm pretty sure most people in her position would go back with or without a weapon. I know I would.

Did you watch the little post-ep. extra? I hated that too but it made a little more sense when they explained it was "not to go hand-to-hand with Nazir but more to at least try keep an eye on him."

So Carrie knows Brody got the code to save her, but she also knows Brody could have warned the VP. (Is there an override?) She'll know he let him die on purpose. Guess Brody got his "out" of politics...

He has a gun. She has nothing but a pipe she picked up. That's just Carrie being an idiot (a.k.a. typical Carrie).

Oh yeah, also that part about the VP, when Carrie called Saul maybe she would mentioned "BTW the VP, our future President, may be dead in a few minutes, alert everyone!!!".

Anyway, great episode (I know, I know), I can't wait for the finale.

Doesn't matter. Her every waking moment for many years has been about getting this guy. No person who has spent as much time - and as much sanity - as she has trying to catch him is just going to walk away when he's that close, regardless of who has what weapon.

And even then, as uteotw just mentioned, she might just be going back to try and keep an eye on him rather than try to apprehend him herself. And if that's the case, even if she's just planning on staying in the shadows (of which there are an awful lot in that warehouse), grabbing anything that could be potentially used as a weapon makes sense.

Re: Homeland -- "Broken Hearts" -- 12/02/12

One of the high points of this show for me is any Islamic discussion discussion involving Carrie, a person who understands the religion. It's not the normal us vs them rooted in ignorance, fear of the unknown, and intolerance. Carrie understands and respects Islam and still thinks Abu Nazir is a terrorist. Everytime I see that on my screen, I'm somewhat amazed an American show has the cojones to show it. The conversation between Carrie and Abu Nazir wasn't perfect (it only touched on one man's terrorism is another man's collateral damage), but it was Good Stuff.

Eh, she called in the cavalry, it's not a stretch to me that she'd go back.

I noticed that too and I wonder where that is leading. Carrie knows what Brody was involved in. I wonder if she'll keep it to herself or she'll turn Brody in. On one hand he saved her life, on the other hand he was involved with the murder of the Vice President. Of course Brody can claim he was just trying to save her but Carrie knows better and she knows that Brody had other choices, such as contacting the CIA and working with them to save Carrie instead of going rogue.

Re: Homeland -- "Broken Hearts" -- 12/02/12

Any hints as to why Saul was called up or down rather than going with Quinn? I had other things going on and I may have missed why he was pulled.

Re: Homeland -- "Broken Hearts" -- 12/02/12

Awesome episode last night. The high point for me (though subtle) was the opening sequence when Brody went to meet the VP. It was maybe a 2 minute sequence done in a single take -- not much dialogue, but the camera work was fluid and it just seemed to click with me for some reason. In addition to the plot lines, this show has a great sense of style.

Unless I missed something, they didn't say outright why they pulled him. But it was implied that they did so because he was getting too close to the Quinn operation.

Good episode, but Nazir was taking a big risk in calling Brody out of the blue on Skype.
