Feel bad for carter, but I imagine he didn't do much strategizing to put himself in a good situation.

I don't like listening to her speak or her general attitude, but good for Abi for playing the game. I've always been more of a fan of people who do well in challenges and who can play strategically more than people who are "honest" or "nice" (although when you are as nasty as Russell or even Abi you're asking for what you get).

She not only was smart enough to wait for the advantage, with no one even giving any thought to her getting it, she then made up a decent story about the idol and then she made a pretty heady move by selling her idol story (which was a bit thin) by reading the advantage note in a very clever way to leave doubt in people's minds.

Then she wins a physical challenge that only Denise, had she gotten there, would have been the female I thought might pull an upset.

Damn, with Penner gone who do I root for now? Maybe Malcolm, but he probably has the easiest path to final 3 and I like to root for underdogs. It would be amazing if Carter made the final 3 since he hardly has gotten any screen time the whole season.

Then root for Malcolm. Him and Denise were down to the final two on their tribe and were split apart. They were the biggest underdogs in the game.

I am not sure how people can't cheer for Skupin and Lisa it's like some sweet mom and dad from a mall got lost and stumbled on the set of Survivor.

I also wish one of these days the Producers would just troll everyone and the Carter,Brett,Cowboy Rick type charecter just randomly got to the finals with no edit and won.

I mentioned that I'm rooting for Lisa each week. I really thought she was going to bring an overload of religion, but it didn't happen and as bad is she is at the game, she's kind of charming no matter what she does. And you can see the pain of her entire life all of her face.

If they boot Abi because of her being so annoying, Lisa could sneak pretty far because she's the weakest person left. It would a huge risk to drag her all the way to the end if you think the jury might go with the good person/redemption angle and not vote for someone who's been really good at the game. If Lisa wasn't like the mom of the whole bunch with a sad life story and Survivor didn't have a history of bitter jurors giving the money to the "wrong" person, I'd almost think she'd be a lock.

Granted Abi got to only run one leg, but she beat two strong guys. I don't see Lisa winning anything unless it's something that's almost solely having to do with luck.

I found it a bit implausible that the auction scroll would read something like "here's a clue to an immunity idol AND here's an advantage at the regular immunity challenge". That being said, I would have probably done the same thing as Abi -- maybe try to sell it a bit better, but pretend that there WAS a found immunity idol in play.

Penner shot himself in the foot last week when he said he wasn't going to make any final x deals. Dumb move from someone who's been on twice.

Looks like the final four will be Skup, Denise, Lisa, and Malcolm. Abi will still be the prime target and Carter the secondary target.

Malcolm will probably be in trouble if he doesn't make an immunity run; Lisa and Skup will want him out and Denise would probably cast her loyalty to him aside if push comes to shove. He's probably the low man on that alliance totem pole.

When's the last time Malcolm can use his HII? Final four?

I'm guessing that's what will happen. It's hard to envision Malcolm not winning. The scene where he and Abi were getting the mail and he's consoling her seems to be a moment where we'll look back and realize he secured a jury vote.

I couldn't tell, was Penner whistling 'The Facts of Life' theme as he was walking down the path?

I heard him whistling but didn't catch the tune, but it would be pretty funny if it was.

Please, no more chances for Penner. Don't turn him into the next Boston Rob.

I miss when they have one of the "mystery" auction items be something nasty like bugs or brains. :(

I agree. The editing has been making him out to be such an underdog that he's a gigantic favorite. It's looking like he'll never have to play the idol. And everyone seems to like him. Malcolm v Denise at the final, with Malcolm winning easily.

I heard it as the Survivor theme song (with Penner hamming it up by creating his own live exit music). But I suppose it could almost anything. Only Penner knows. Has anyone heard/read an exit interview with Penner addressing this?

I can't stand Abi but have to give her credit for actually winning one leg of the challenge--I figured there was no way.

I've gotten really fond of Penner but don't really want to have him on again.

I was expecting one of the items to be a glass of water. They could have edited stuff out, though, as I wasn't keeping close tabs on who was spending what.

I wished they had been crueler with Abbie's advantage. They should have made everyone run the first two rounds of the challenge, and THEN had Abbie read scroll, kicking out the original person to have made third spot, just as they were out of breath and psyching themselves up to take immunity. That would have been fun, and make Abbie's teammates even more incensed at her.

Yeah, this was a lame one. Nobody got douched on it.

I'll never understand how people in this show always seem to let the desperate person scoop up the advantage item.

Dalton Ross (who does write-ups for ew.com) asked Probst about it. While the auction was edited for time, Probst says they held off on nasty surprises because he felt the players were struggling with hunger. But IMO, that's the best time for a nasty auction item. Some starving player sees the others getting great food items, spends most (if not all) of their money, only to be crushed to see dirty water or pickled cow brains. And the next mystery item turns out to be fabulous 3 course meal.

Wow, as soon as she read the Auction clue I knew Abi would win immunity since Survivor likes good Television and would somehow set the game up for her to win....untying knots, lame final round.

After Penner got his torch snuffed, he should have said, "Well, Jeff, you take the good, you take the bad. And there you have the facts of life." No one would probably have had a clue anyway though.
