Peter popping behind the observer and snapping his neck was badass.

Re: Fringe -- "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There" -- 11/09/12

The whole episode was. Last week left me with anticipation. This week left me both pleased and dreading the end of the show. This show got so good compared to where it started.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Peter. As an audience, we're left with the feeling that Peter's actions can be the key to combating the Observers (as they were in this episode), but will have some greater unanticipated negative effect. The Observers are pratically smiling (as much as they can) with what he's done. "You've made a grave mistake." Peter as basically a superhero works for me, though.

I wish Peter wouldn't lie to Olivia about what he did. I'll never get why everyone has to lie all the time. Just say what you did and why. That's who you are and that's what you did. Olivia's entitled to know and she's entitled to work through whatever feelings it brings up for her. Obviously Peter thinks he has a legitimate reason to do it, so stand behind your decision, don't hide it.

It irritated me that Astrid kept opening the curtains as of course the Observers would see the curtains moving and know to check that unit. The curtains were sheer anyway and she could have watched straight through the curtains without giving away her position.

We also have Walter's personality reverting back to the person he used to be little by little after the reintegration of his missing brain piece.

Many happenings, and I look forward to each week to see how it plays out. Kudos to all involved.

Re: Fringe -- "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There" -- 11/09/12

I have to agree with everything you've said for the most part. However, I don't think the observers saw her peering through the curtains, the lead observer said something about searching room-to-room. Really cool to see through their eyes though.

You are definitely on the right path with thinking something negative will happen to Peter though, Fringe always seem to be balanced most of the time. You always get the heartbreak with the triumph when it comes to this show.

Loved that giant RESIST painting on the skyscraper. And of course, Peter snapping the observer's neck.

Perhaps Walter reverting to some of his old ways will aid in the destruction of the observers. I can see each member of the team playing a pivotal role to bring down the observers. We've already seen two of them go on solo missions, maybe Olivia's is next?

I miss Etta.

Re: Fringe -- "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There" -- 11/09/12

At the end I half-expected Peter to reach up and grab a tuft of his hair to find that it was falling out. I'm wondering if he'll metamorphose into a full observer and have to struggle to stay on their side.

I'm still baffled by the "resist" posters.

And I want to see Nina! What was with the wheelchair in the original promo pic? She looked like she might be half-cyborg by now or something.

You know how observers tilt there head like dogs sometimes? Thought I saw Peter doing that while looking at Walter on the monorail toward the end.
In last week's thread someone posted Peter might become September. I'm wondering if the chief observer is Peter. Aged about 20 years. Kinda Darth Vader thing.

I'm fairly confident the heroes will save the world. Pessimistic all will survive to live happily ever after.

I definitely saw him cock his head like the observers do. I wonder if it was on purpose?

Cecil said he had been in the pocket universe for 5 days, but it had actually been 20 years. Assuming a constant time ratio, the pocket universe moves about 1461 times slower. They were in the pocket universe at least 10 minutes, so using the constant ratio, when they came out it would have been over 10 days after they went in instead of what seemed to just be later the same day.

Really good episode - this is one of the few shows that my teenage daughter and I watch together, although she watches the previews for the next week while I leave the room.

Yeah they dropped the ball on the pocket universe time difference.

Cool episode. The similarities to The Matrix in this season have already been pretty obvious, but they were especially strong in this episode.

Also, is there any reason that they shouldn't try shooting Olivia up with Cortexiphan to utilize her powers?

The Observer that Olivia tripped through the portal looked like Lincoln Lee.

I can think of two obvious potential mistakes.

1) It's practically a sci-fi rule that this sort of thing severely harms you, usually fatally. The Observers are post-human and presumably engineered to be compatible with it, Peter is not.

2) The item contains some sort of tracking device.

I thought her powers disappeared during the season finale last year?

From what I recall, Walter said that her powers might be stunted after removing the bullet, but given the powers she had before, I'm just surprised that they haven't been mentioned at all or that trying to jump-start them hasn't been considered.

Maybe the observers assume, that with his enhanced mental capabilities, he will have the same view of humanity as them and turn against his friends.

That's a good thought. Kind of like I was thinking they'd each have an integral piece of the puzzle and perhaps they'll all be "super-powered" to some degree. Olivia will regain her powers, Peter the Observer, and Walter will transform into his old self...diabolical and intelligent and have a master plan

I think Peter is going to end up sacrificing himself to somehow bring Etta back, possibly using time travel or alternate universes.

Re: Fringe -- "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There" -- 11/09/12

Good call that they probably set up that moment in the park to be so iconic so that they could show it again as a happy ending without the observers. Or it could be nothing.

If they're going with a restored-past & alternate future ending, they could basically kill off the entire cast in the immediate run-up to the reset, if they wanted to...
