That was a Dexter season 6 level plot twist.

I haven't watched Dexter since season 3. Is that a positive critique?

Re: Sons of Anarchy -- "Small World" -- 10/16/12

Clay being behind the robberies to undermine Jax's leadership as head of the club was a pretty fair conclusion to arrive at. Was anyone really that surprised?

I don't know if it rivals a comparison to
Spoiler:
an imaginary mentor on Dexter
but then again, many saw the writing on the wall regarding the latter weeks in advance as well.

I really liked this ep.--as long as you put aside the fact that Jax is working with Pope who just had Jax's best lifelong friend brutally murdered. The revenge on the guard was great; that must've been one well-made snow globe.

Re: Sons of Anarchy -- "Small World" -- 10/16/12

I think most of us knew it was the 3 new guys. Since they have shown different distinguishing marks on them during the break ins. I assumed Clay was in on it also but wasn't sure. The part I don't like is that Jax has no problem with the new guys not backing anything he says. Jax has been pretty smart the whole series and he doesn't even see that these guys are trying to sink any vote they can.

Also it looked like Tig wanted to vote no on the new coke arraignment. Jax got him of prison so he would back everything he wanted to pass. I don't think Tig will hold up his end of the deal and go back to Clay.

Unser laid some truth on Gemma. Seemed a little cheesy to me though. I don't think Unser ever really thought he had a chance.

The bedroom scene didn't make sense either, why not just off yourself alone? The half sister plot was weird also since I always thought she was an ex of Nero's.

i think jax is aware something is up with them, esp with Pope telling him to look inward.

I also think he has a revenge end game in mind on pope. no way he lets the man behind his best friend's murder go. i think it somehow ties into the drug thing, as that may be the only place pope is exposed to illegal activity. Maybe he is wearing a wire?

also nice dialogue shout outs. jax to Tig about "collateral damage" which is what i think Tig and Clay called Donna, and "I got this" about beating the guard.

Now that it is raised, I think Jax is counting very much on his CIA connections to eventually clean up Pope, one way or another. I really hope if that's it, the joke is on him and he has to go back to the drawing board.

Tig may feel some residual loyalty to Clay, but he wasn't looking at doing a stretch, he was looking at life in prison. I just don't see him switching sides anytime soon especially considering Clay killing Piney and placing blame on the Niners led to Tig's actions. Which then led to the murder of his daughter and their present situation with Pope. Tig and Clay aren't exactly tight right now.

I assumed there was something between them, but I never got the impression that they were once lovers. As for the bedroom scene, considering Nero's description of her backstory, I don't find it that bizarre. He states that she was a former addict who had psychological issues. The stress of them losing their escort operation which was directly tied to Nero's involvement with Gemma combined with the fact that she was apparently secretly in love with her half-brother and stopped taking her meds certainly didn't help.

Re: Sons of Anarchy -- "Small World" -- 10/16/12

I liked this show - I've been critical of the last few, but I thought Sutter finally got the storylines moving again.

Really liked the Unser scene with Gemma; he's one of the few consistently likeable characters left on the show. Sadly I do not think he's going to be around for long especially with him starting to put together that Clay might be behind the invasions.

The show could use some balance in terms of relatively good guys or at least guys you can root for; but they always seem to get killed off - Hale, Half Sack, Piney?, Opie. I think Unser may be next.

I did like the bit about Pope having that $5mil "insurance" policy to get his killers if he gets off'd. It at least gives a reason going forward why Jax can't simply walk up to Pope in one of these meets and slit his throat or shoot him and why he will need a more elegant solution to exact revenge on Pope.

I think Sutter may be more on his game when he has to appear in the episodes. I'm pretty sure episodes where we see Otto are generally better than average episodes, and it's not because they're epic or anything like that. I think maybe it's him being on set in a different capacity or who knows what. It's like there is more focus.

Telling Gemma off is what convinces me you're right more than anything. It's a giant tell of a character whose time is almost over.

At this point, they need more characters we give a damn about either way. It was pretty clear from the time the Nomads came in that they weren't about that at all. When they kill off characters, they're doing a very poor job of replacing them. They seem to bring one person in for every two deaths. I guess this could be on purpose to create a sort of claustrophobia or sense of doom in Jax, but I have my doubts.

The problem is that it would have been better for us to have seen Pope and to have found out about him as a bad-ass before he was thrust on us.

Great scenes in this episode. Really liked the meeting with the Mayans, the Asians (I forget what gang they are), and the Niners. I always liked that leader of the Mayans.

FOr some reason I thought Otto died last season. Good to see him as well.

You know the realism doesn't really sink in until you see Kurt as Otto. I'm sure he's mostly blind from having to look at Katey on a daily basis.

Smits had the right position for sure in episode 1.

My dvr cut off the end of the episode and it seems I missed something big. What happens towards the end? The last I saw was Jax talking to Tara about it being a 'normal' day.

Juice drops off Clay, wearing his Piney oxygen.

As soon as Juice pulls away, he takes off the oxygen.

He goes into wherever he is staying to find the 3 Nomads there. He I think may have punched one or something like that and screamed at them about how they weren't supposed to kill the woman.

I was wondering who that guy was they were going after until Jax said "find the pipe." Makes sense now.
