Arrow -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/10/12

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell, "Hung," "Private Practice") was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. Back in Starling City, Oliver slowly reconnects with those closest to him, his devoted mother Moira (Susanna Thompson, "Cold Case," "Kings"), beloved sister Thea (Willa Holland, "Gossip Girl," "The O.C."), and best friend Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell, "Pan Am"), but struggles with his ex-girlfriend Dinah "Laurel" Lance (Katie Cassidy, "Gossip Girl," "Melrose Place"), who blames him for her sister's death. Oliver has brought back many new skills from his time on the island and despite the watchful eye of his new bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey, "Dexter," "Blue Bloods"), Oliver manages to secretly create the persona of Arrow - a vigilante - to right the wrongs of his family and fight the ills of society. As Arrow, Oliver will atone for the past sins of his family while he searches for the personal redemption he needs. Paul Blackthorne also stars. David Nutter directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Marc Guggenheim and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Marc Guggenheim (101).

Just to clarify once again, this new series has nothing to do with the Green Arrow character from Smallville. Different creative team, new cast.

It was co-created by Greg Berlanti (Everwood)

Saw the pilot at Comic Con and liked it. If you liked Smallville you will like this, although it's definitely darker.

So he doesn't even go by Green Arrow in the show? Lame. Is just Arrow somehow better then Green Arrow? He's dressed all in green. I'll probably catch the first few eps anyways.

Also, Diana Lance is Black Canary isn't she? Wonder if she will have her yell powers.

That was great! From what I have read, they plan for flashbacks to continue throughout the entire series. I'm in all the way. If only I had CW HD though

I really liked it. the action was exciting, dare i say "refreshing", everyone was super pretty, and the ending was a good intro into what betrayals might await.

I also appreciated that apparently people can and will die, which makes the stakes in this world real. i was really looking forward to this, and am not disappointed.

So the super famous guy whose face is all over the news is fighting crime wearing...a hood? That's it? I'm not buying that.

Also, I never realized just how similar the premise of Green Arrow is to Batman. It's like deja vu. And the characterization of Oliver Queen makes Bruce Wayne look like The Joker.

well the idea is that no one would ever expect it to be "that guy" in the first place.. Like for example I'm sure Justin Bieber could run around shooting people as some sort of vigilant and even if people said "that chick from Juno just ran up and shot him!!" no one would really believe it was Bieber in the first place.

as for the show it was much better then I thought it would be.. They went with a little bit of a darker tone over all and he *gasp* shot people and killed a few too.. I thought they would break out the stun arrows right away etc so at least the show is a little more gritty..

errrrr a whole lot of pew pew pew gun fire the never hit anyone but hey it's an action tv show, so that's a given.. I'm also not sure why so many people on the show think a boat goes sinks and anything happened AT ALL other then the boat sank, people died and he lived on a island for 5 years. They have no idea what happened but ep one the mother etc is all "What does he know?!".. WTF the boat sank, why would he know anything due to an accident?

meh, I'll keep watching..

I had zero expectations for this, but it was surprisingly good.

He actually does wears a mask or face paint in the shape of a mask. In earlier scenes it doesnt look like he is wearing anything though. They may have added the mask in post production.

You're now realizing this? Green Arrow has always been accused of being a low rent Batman. He had his own Robin in the form of Speedy, he had an Arrowcar (Batmobile), and he even had an Arrowcave (Batcave).

I liked it and hope it does not get cancelled.

It looks great in HD.

Just wished Katie Cassidy (Laurel) would go back to being blonde for this show.

I like that Arrow doesnt mind killing the bad guys. How does a guy alone on an island learn to speak Russian and MMA moves?

Anyone catch the orange/blue mask on a stick on the island at the beginning?
Spoiler:
Supposedly Deadshot will be on episode 3.

Re: Arrow -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/10/12

Kinda interesting, although it would be nice if all of the young characters don't seem interchangeable with almost any other CW show. Guess it comes in handy if somebody gets hurt/sick...just borrow an actor from another set & nobody notices the difference.

Unfair criticism since it applies to most new shows/movies from the past few years (Revolution, Terranova, Falling Skies, etc...despite the circumstances, the cast all has perfect (generic) hair & perfect (generic) features.

I actually liked The Cape better (more humor & quirky characters).

I was disappointed that show died so quickly. It was fun.
