Neeson hosted in Novemebr of 2004. I remember it for a great sketch based on an Irish version of Extreme Makeover Home Edition called "You Call This A House, Do Ya?” in which they "take an average Irish home and basically try to make it look a little less crap."

OK, Darrel Hammond was sorely missed as Chris Matthews in the Rachel Maddow sketch. Sudekis was just doing a poor imitation of Hammond anyway. They got Parnell to do Lehrer in the cold open, too bad they couldn't just get Hammond.

Weekend Update was hilarious this week.

Christina Applegate next week. Wow. I think the last time she hosted was 1993. I wonder what the longest stretch between hosting gigs is. 19 1/2 years has to be close to that record you'd think. How long ago was that? That episode had the debut of Matt Foley, motivational speaker.

I dont know who wrote the jokes for the big bird segment, bu they were smart enough not to have Big Bird make any type of political endorsement.

I'd think the Sesame Street people had tight control over the use of Big Bird and would not stand for any treatment that would further endanger support for the program.

Pretty bad episode. Oddly enough, it sort of started to pick toward the end.

The debate, construction workers, MSNBC, and astronaut sketches were awful. Bad jokes and they just fucking dragged on and on. Daniel Craig seemed really uncomfortable. The Bond girls was sort of funny, though.

The English pub and Fred Armisen playing the obnoxious girlfriend were sort of okay, though. Better than that fucking astronaut thing.

Weekend update was good, but I sort of wish Big Bird would have said something a bit risque. Stick his tail up in the air told Mitt Romney to kiss his ass or something. Probably would have gotten a cheap laugh.

Is it just me or do they not seem to be giving Sudekis as much time with good characters as they did?

I would have liked BB to have been a bit more salty about being shitted on.

I thought this episode pretty much sucked, didn't find much to laugh at. I'm a big fan of Muse and neither songs did much for me.

The skit where Fred Armisen played the girl was pretty much the same thing as the JGL sketch in the last episode where the parents are trying to set up their daughter. It was even the exact same set.

Also, it's never a good sign when a skit is reused. I hope this season picks up because it's a few notches down from last season.

Anything you do with Big Bird, you have to assume it's going to go viral and some 4-year-old will wind up watching it. So obviously you're not going to have him say anything risque or political. Hence, bird jokes.

Horrible episode. The astronaut cat sketch was painful. And why did they include all the ALIENS references? I know there was a cat in ALIEN and at the beginning of ALIENS..but this made no sense.

Outside of the MSNBC sketch (and Chris Matthews wasn't too good in that) this was a TERRIBLE episode.

It's got to be the writing, and Seth Meyers is the head writer. He needs to go.

Agree, horrible episode. The new women (so far) are pretty good. Especially the one who played Jodie Foster and Ellen in the Bond girl skit. They haven't quite figured out what to do with the heavier girl. Can't believe there are people who don't know who Muse are. Even if you can't same one of their songs. Can't believe they chose to perform the worst song off of their new album ("Panic Station"). Also feel it's the worst thing they've ever done. That'll be the beer run song when I got see them next time.

I certainly would have liked BB (or rather Carroll Spinney) to have said more about the shout out. When I saw BB show up I started yelling "Get him Carroll!" but I completely understand CTW not wanting to let Big Bird be used in that sort of way. Besides, he's 5, he doesn't really know politics. :)

But then they should have had either Kermit or Oscar come in to actually make some good comments/jokes about the situation.

I thought this was pretty typical fare for SNL, which isn't really a positive comment. I was hoping for more out of having Daniel Craig host.

the problem was that he wasn't (or given any material) that remotely was that funny - he was constantly looking offstage to his cue cards it seemed.

Weekend Update though was the highlight of the show.

Muse, for such a great band, their performance was dull.

Muse is so boring and they are not in the same class as U2.

Armisen acting like a girl was funny.

I hope they repeat that episode on VH1 some day. Probably watched it back then.

Tres Equis spoof with JGL is probably the best thing so far this season.

Anyone remember any sketches with the NFL replacement refs? I don't think they aired on TV.

As far as copying each other maybe :) That new Muse song is a rip of "Numb"

Pretty weak episode, though I liked Weekend Update. Craig didn't impress as a comedic actor but he didn't have much to work with. The spaceship sketch was so bad I had to fast forward it and I almost never do that.

On the overrated list maybe(I don't think U2 is overrated but acknowledge many do). I can't fathom the success of Muse at all but to each their own. To me they just seem generic with no hooks. YMMV.

Go see them live, just once. And then get back to me.

I have seen them twice actually, plus have a few of their live albums and a dvd. I like one of their songs and I wanted to like them more but aside from that one song they just don't do it for me. I really tried but there was no connection. For me they are a one hit wonder (yes I know they dont meet the definition of that and in the grand scheme I know they are not. I just mean for me personally they have one song I like)
