Bump for East viewers

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
So Sheldon's still a jerk, Penny & Leonard still can't figure out their relationship, Howard is still stuck between his mother and his wife, and Raj is still a sad sack. Glad they've evolved the characters for the new season.
On the bright side, at least Penny's a blonde again. Looks better than the brownish-blonde from last year. |
Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
The mother vs. Bernadette thing kind of ruined Howard in space for me.
It's funny, the show was originally four nerds and one hot chick. Now Kaley Cuoco is the most expendable out of the seven cast members. |
Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
The show is funniest when it's the group together. With everyone pairing off and doing different things, it's sort of bland.
Biggest laugh out of me was the the Russian wondering how the U.S. won the Cold War. |
Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
I liked Raj playing the audience and calling out Penny & Leonard on their bullshit relationship "problems."
Also got a good  at Howard's line, "great, now space is ruined." |
Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
Pleasantly surprised to see Howard is space. Figured the season premiere would be his return, kind of like the North Pole expedition. Not a bad special effect either. The thing with his mom is starting to get old, as is the Raj's sort-of transformation from metro to gay.

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
I was hoping they'd do more with Howard in space. Lots of funny situations could've been used. Instead we get scenes of him being yelled at by his wife and mother.
The only really funny moment was Shedons' quoting Spider-man  |
Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
what i always wanted to know is: does the BBT have a special deal with DC to only show their comics in the comic book store and around the house and such? from time to time we see a Marvel title (i remember Wolverine once) but usually it is all DC figures and stuff. any reason why?

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
Scott, Warner Brothers produces BBT and Warners owns DC comics so that is why the comics are primarily DC. Oops, beat by a minute.

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
They've made exceptions though. It was mentioned in EW last week. They had some Marvel stuff on display when Stan Lee* was on.
*which I can't even recall now. lol |
Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
ahhh. that explains it. Yeah, Stan Lee was on and they do have Marvel from time to time, but rarley. that explains it though. thanks guys.

Isn't Warner Brothers the producer of the show? I'd say that has a lot to do with why their comics are predominantly featured.

Yep, the show is definitely spinning its wheels. A few laughs, but mostly forgetable.

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
The show seems stuck in a rut, retreading the same jokes now for the past three seasons. I have found it far more tolerable if I simply skip any scene involving Howard and/or his mother. That setup became stale around season one and they've increased its use, if anything.

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- Season Premiere -- "The Date Night Variable" -- 9/27/12
Cuoco isn't really expendable. You couldn't have the show without her. She's just the least interesting part.
I think perhaps the incessant use of Howard and his mother the past half season's worth of episodes or so may have been related to how they're getting every bit they can out of that gag because hopefully starting in the next couple of episodes it will be over with. |

This was the most impressive thing about this episode to me. I thought the space station effects were really well done.
