Is ALIAS worth a Rewatch ?

I watched it when it first aired. I enjoyed it but wasn't a fanatic (only watched every episode once).

Has anyone rewatched it recently ? Wondering how it has aged.

Sure. I think so. Probably season 1 for sure more so than the others

Season 2 was pretty good as well. Sadly, the show never quite recovered after they took down SD6.

Watch it again, but stop after season 2. Takes less time and you will have great memories.

I've been watching it on and off. After going to Le Femme Nikita and enjoying it much more than Alias, I didn't think I would go back. But the first 2 seasons of Alias are just fantastic. I think it was the drop in quality that soured the show for me.

Season 1, yes. Season 2, maybe. Anything after that, skip.

I had a tough time getting through it the first time. I'm glad I watched it, but I doubt I'll ever check it out again.

I LOVED this show when it was first on. But I never watched the last season. I'm tempted to go back and rewatch the seasons all over again. But maybe I should take the 'stop at season 2' advice. Season 3 is probably when I started multitasking while watching the show.

Yeah I tried to re-watched it last year. I loved the show when it first aired but most of it just doesn't hold up very well. S1 and about half of S2 is still worthwhile but after that, the show just got tedious.

I totally plan on rewatching this. Loved the whole thing.

Hmm, I have been planning a re-watch for a long time..mainly because I never saw the last season..I think I forgot to watch the first couple episodes and figured I'd wait and watch it on DVD, then never got around to it.

Short answer, no.

I watched Season 1 and 2 recently and found it just as entertaining and compelling as when it originally aired.

I'd skip the subsequent seasons.

I did a rewatch recently and seasons 3+ are even worse the 2nd time around. I couldn't even finish. First 2 are still fantastic though!

The episodes that were mission/action based were great. Hated the Rambaldi crap, which I know was the main arc of the show. Some of you say you didn't like season 4, but I really liked that season mainly because it took a step away from the Rambaldi crap and was more mission of the week. Plus, it helped that Mia Maestro was introduced that season as well. Also, I recall season 4 was the highest rated season because it was paired with Lost.

Didn't like season 3 because of the time jump and I hated Melissa George's character. I didn't think she gelled with the show. IIRC wasn't season 5 a shortened season because of Jen Garner's pregnancy?

It ages well...worth watching again and again in my opinion. Great show! Obviously the first two seasons are the best. I would agree the later seasons are not as good but still worth watching again for the full story.

Yes.

I don't know what these "maybe season two..." and "just the first season" comments are all about, the second season was the greatest of the entire run. Everything else pales in comparison. Even the later seasons have some fun stuff in them (Irina's return and the ensuing over-the-top story arc in season four, Sark & Lauren, Sonia Braga, etc), though.

Keep in mind that ABC is what killed the show, not the showrunners. If ABC hadn't forced them to abandon the plot for season four that they had set up at the end of season three, those last two seasons would have been VASTLY different.

For those of us with dim memories, care to elaborate?

From memory, there was a studio directive to do mostly standalone mission of the week eps for season 4 to attract new viewers. Studio execs thought that the Rumbaldi stuff had become so convoluted that it would be impossible for newcomers to the show to understand what the hell was going on. I think they thought they may be be able to attract new viewers by having neatly packed beginning middle and end eps where you didn't have to know much of any backstory.
As usual this never really works. It didn't attract any new veiwers and longtime fans had no real reason to tune in since there was no consequence to any of the episodes as before when nearly every ep would end on a cliffhanger.
They returned to the old format by season 5 somewhat, but that was complicated by Garner's pregnancy.
Getting rid of Michael Vartan for a long period of time also I think alienated fans. The fact that he had to be brought back showed what a mistake that was. That all seemed to have it seeds in him being Garner's real life ex lover and her new hubby Alleck not to pleased he was still in the picture-albeit onscreen only. The rumour was he was initially pushed off the show to appease Affleck.
I think the show may have had a different outcome had they not trucked in mission of week for season 4 to gain new viewers that were never going to come in the first place.
