I said it was very good but flawed, that is correct. I said I wouldn't put it in my personal top 10, which I have already said is hardly an attack on it. We all have different tastes and different opinions. I find myself drawn to different shows (which I listed at the request of another poster) than The Wire. I never said you couldn't put it in your personal top 10.

As for mentioning anything positive, I'd say calling it "very good" IS positive. Or perhaps "very good" means something different to you? That fact I find flaws in it doesn't negate the very good portions of it.

As for other posters making negative comments, I did not support them in the slightest. All I said was that compared to their aggressively negative comments, mine don't seem so bad. That's it, that's all. No malice was intended on my part towards The Wire or you, bootsy.

And yet you still take the time to single me out and attack me and my opinions, attacking me for things I didn't even say.

tl;dr:

Look man I'm not going to take too many more of your smart ass comments about reading from you and Jules. If this had been me saying this to you I would have been suspended for a month. I don't really feel you set a very good example of a moderator at all and I've stated this before. If you are going to be a moderator I would think you would have a little more restraint of making the comments you do and I've seen you do it to others as well.

Anyway, YES I can read English what kind of silly comment is that. Just because I called you out for your opinion and your logic doesn't mean you have to go to the smartass comments. I haven't said you can't have your tastes and your opinions what I'm saying is if the Wire is a very good show you haven't really backed that up in this thread. All you've done is agree with everyone that is posted a negative view of the show. That doesn't sound like a person that thinks that the show is very good but has flaws.

Bootsy, you failed to respond to any of my points in their particulars. Further, you continue to repeat accusations that I've already proven false. I see no point in continuing this discussion and further derailing this thread.

If you have issues with moderation, feel free to take it to Feedback. This is not the place for it.

Did you really just say boyyy to someone and try to sound intimidating? In 2012? Are you Flavor Flav?

Apparently the kids today do that a lot with words. I don't think he was trying to be intimidating.

Teens say things like no wayyyy or I loveeee you.

Heh, It's best to just ignore comments like that entirely, bootsy. Any response you give them is a victory for them. Unnecessary instigation is the new trolling.

Okay, The Wire was my favorite show before this thread. After bootsy, unfortunately it's dropped down a few notches. :(

Naw, that's pretty much the definition of trolling, best way to do so is making a offensive post telling people outright their opinions are wrong or suck, or responding to posts without actually responding to the post (these are my favorite). The funny part is that none of the posts that "instigate" are intended to instigate, they share up an opinion, and instead of having any sort of discussion it becomes a quick one-sided argument of "fuck you you're wrong for liking/not liking this!" from certain individuals.

Never used to be a problem on this site, people would discuss opinions, now there are numerous individuals that just try to instigate dumb ass fights about peoples opinions - since their opinion is right, and it's a black and white response. That's just stupid on a ridiculous number of levels.

Also I meant to ask, how was the series finale of The Wire? Never got through the last season.

Re: Has Breaking Bad surpassed The Wire?

For those that found the Wire boring, how much of the show did you watch before quitting?

I admit the start of the first season is slow. It's also hard to follow with the jargon that they throw at you with minimal explanation. They also don't even try to end episodes on any sort of a cliffhanger to get you hyped for the next episode. So I can see why people would think that's boring (basically, if you liked it it's 'slow' and if you didn't it's 'boring').. but the last few episodes of that season brought the story full circle and made for an amazing first season.

And the second season is slow as hell too. It took me months to watch the whole thing but again, it really picked up towards the end and IMO, made for another good season (although season 2 was the weakest of them all). After that you get into the groove of the show and the next 3 seasons fly by.

I'm sure those that feel it's boring didn't bother to watch the whole series, it doesn't make sense to do that. I just wonder if any of you that felt that way watched the entire first season or bailed after a few episodes?

I think we all know the people who don't like The Wire are closet racists. Now it's out there. Discuss.

I think that The Wire was more realistic than Breaking Bad, but as engrossing as The Wire was I find BB to be more entertaining.

Breaking Bad exists in an almost comic book reality, so I agree on both counts.

That is because you are obviously a man of intelligence and taste.

Re: Has Breaking Bad surpassed The Wire?

First, I like both shows. I'd probably grab Breaking Bad before The Wire if I wanted to watch something. It's the comedy that gets me. The Wire has it, but not nearly as much. But that in no way should imply that I think The Wire is a lesser show. Both are fantastic and as long as I have my DVDs / Blu-rays, I fortunately don't need to choose between them. Yes, I know that's a not an answer. It's not a question I ask myself, so I don't really have one.

Second, until last week, I've not been to this site in a year or two. Coming back reminds me of visiting my home town after about 15-20 years. Went all over town checking out old places I lived, went to school, went roller skating, out to eat, etc. And what struck me most at the time was that after 15-20 years, I think I saw two new commercial buildings that didn't exist when I was a child. The town only has a population of about 7,000, but still, almost nothing changed.

Finally, that "Does Breaking Bad ever get good?" thread is still going? -eek-
