JJ Abrams was on Geektime on Howard 101 last Friday. He gave an interesting perspective on the 15 year time jump where they plan to do back-stories (ala Lost) to explain details like why guns don't work. Sounds cool in theory.

well still a few min to go..
Has a distinct Falling Skies feel to it minus the aliens.

I'm digging it, though I wish they would have slowed it down a bit. Finding Miles was too easy, but it seems to fit with the pace they are setting.

for Lou Malnati's.
I wonder if that was paid for or if they just wanted to add an authentic Chicago detail.

But (some) guns do work ... the Colonel (guy from Breaking Bad) had what looked like a Desert Eagle (I'm not a gun guy, so forgive me if that was wrong) ...
I find it hard to believe in 15 years they wouldn't have reinvented something to produce electricity ... what would happen if I walked across the carpet with my socks on? What if I rubbed a balloon on my head? How about if we sent a sheep down a slip-n-slide with no water on it? Do electrons simply no longer transfer?
Lead girl ... really not that hot.
That said, will keep recording it each week and watching, hoping it gets a little better. Definite potential, doubt it will ever be anything great though.

Thought it was so-so. Same problems I had with Terra Nova: a buncha beautiful people running around with clean clothes. Why can't they take a cue from "Jeremiah"...now THAT was how you do post-apocalypse landscapes.
I'll give it a chance but I hope it rachets up the grit factor and keeps away from being Hunter Games-lite.

I thought it was good, not great. For this type of premise, I thought 44 minutes to set this whole story arc up wasn't alot of time. I think a show like this needs a 2-hour premiere to really flesh out the story and characters. Plus, they had Jon Favreau, a feature film director, directing the Pilot, so they should have given him more to work with.
I really liked the opening sequence. That was pretty damn cool. Plus seeing the plane spin out of control and crash in the city.
Okay, I have a major nit pick that drove me crazy. WTF was up with the shootouts and the blood? When chaos broke at after Charlie's Dad got shot, Neville fired at a few rounds at people and it looked like people were bleeding purple/red powder. I've seen this powder bleeding effect in a few other things. That just drove me nuts seeing that.
I really enjoyed Billy Burke as Miles. That whole fight sequence with the militia was pretty cool.
I don't believe for a second that Charlie's Mom is dead. You don't cast someone like Elizabeth Mitchell to just appear in flashbacks.
The little twist that Miles friend Monroe was the leader of the Militia. But...why the guy who played "The Cape?" I think whoever cast the show could have done a better job casting the main villain.
Not perfect, but it has potential. I'm in for however long it stays on.

This also lets them have some people who can turn on the power in limited areas or ways.. Even if that makes no sense really, being one has to produce power and it take a lot of effort and gear to store it..
I will say the lack of modern guns is a little dumb being we already have a ton of them in the USA.. If they have powder to load muskets they would be able to reload modern brass with out much issue.
but hey it's a tv show, they need to work certain angles for the sake of the story lines.. All I know is that I'm in for the season being I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic anything really..

I enjoyed it. I'll stick with it for now.
I thought the lead was super cute with a slammin body. There was a nice shot of the hip bones. The blonde is pretty nice too.
How many episodes have they shot? It looks like on IMDB only 6?

Kim Raver from 24 and Greys Anatomy is joining the cast in a recurring role.

I thought the pilot was okay.
The muskets made laugh, as did the tiny swords.
The lead actress is nice to look at in her Hunger Games costume.

I agree with the sentiment that this moved too fast.
I'm sure they wanted to avoid the perception of slow pacing, but man, so much happened. I'm not sure where they started originally, but all of the sudden they're at O'Hare, then Wrigley (which apparently is in the middle of nowhere in this universe), then downtown Chicago. And they only have a run-in with one group of people at O'Hare.
They find the uncle in the first episode... we already find out who Monroe is... we already see that someone else has power... those seem like things that would have been better revealed over a few episodes.
Now, i'm sure if it were slower, i'd be in here complaining about how slow it is.

When the lights come up, showrunner Eric Kripke assures viewers who may be wary of mythology-based broadcast TV shows that the answers to the mysteries presented in the ambitious show’s first hour are coming. “I can promise you we have the answers,” Kripke says. “The mythology will move forward at an aggressive pace, and we’ll ask new questions.”

Watched this last night and loved it.
2 major concernes though.
1. Why would power going out affect combustion engines? Even if it killed the batteries the engines wouldn't stop instantly.
2. Do men wear blush in the future because the brother certainly had a ton on.
Charlie is a dime piece but I guess I shouldn't be suprised as that is now part of the formula for these shows, casting a young relativly know POA in the lead role.
Gets a season pass from me.

15 years. Would it really take that long for cities to look that rundown in that short a time and would the Government be nonexistent?
Interesting premiere. Gonna catch the next one.

I brought that 15 years thing up with a friend, and he referenced the following:
http://www.history.com/shows/life-after-people
seems like it would take a while for a forest to sprout up around wrigley field, which is surrounded by concrete for miles.

And I'm also having a hard time buying the 15 year timeline either from the sate of modern decay, the relative stability of the current civilization, or the loss/confiscation of all the privately owned firearms in this country.

I think they were going constantly drinking/don't give a damn about anything with the brother.

Revolution = Jericho + The Hunger Games
Undecided about this (especially coming from Abrams). The lead is certainly attractive enough but she doesn't have the chops to carry the lead. I would have made the uncle the lead but then I guess they would lose the Hunger Games crowd which is obviously what they're trying to cash in on here.
