Jason Sudeikis has more comedy chops than the rest of the cast put together. I'm glad he's back.

Ok, so far I'm enjoying the show from the Obama/Romney bit to this Seth opening.

Bill Hader's puppet skit was very funny.
I like this episode.
I want to see Seth MacFarlane as Peter Brady.

Fucking terrible imo. Maybe two, three actual out-loud laughs the entire show. Couple of good zingers in the news segment. Anothe indistinguishable r n' b flash in the pan. Terrible.

Is Frank Ocean one of those musicians you have to be high on ecstacy to a appreciate?

Seth did a great job with the skits. He blended well with the cast and didn't feel like some outsider reading cue-cards.
But it seemed like they relied too much on his "look I can do all these voices" gig. I expected it during the monologue but not almost every skit he was in.
I would've liked to have seen a major musical act. Just seems like a proper way to kick off a new season in a big way.
Overall, wasn't a bad show.

This was a strong opener, but a lot of that I attribute to having a seasoned character performer like McFarlane. This was definitely written to play to his strengths, and reminded me of the movie Ted in that it one kind of had to be familiar with his brand of humor to fully enjoy. Who was the girl playing the Latina woman in the news update? New I presume. I have a feeling we will see more of that character in the future, or if nothing else she will be playing Sofia Vergara if a sketch calls for such.
Hader killed it in his sketches. I have a feeling he will be the next to leave.

Jay Pharoah is not that good at all. It's like he does his skits by the book and I ALWAYS get bored while watching any he's in. He is only good with impressions but is that really saying much nowadays? I don't care if you can sound like someone...need to be able to do something with the material. Fred should also keep doing the Obama thing.
It was a good opener...didn't care about the musical guest (rarely ever do). Was actually impressed with how funny Seth was...I was curious to see how he would do.
Hope Hader doesn't leave.....he's hilarious. Didn't care much for either of the new girls as well.

I liked Seth as host, he did a much better job than a majority of the hosts, but of course he also does stuff like this fairly regularly. I like Jay Pharoah from time to time, but he isn't very good as Obama.
I didn't care for Hader's Eastwood skit but he was awesome in the puppet skit.

Yea. McFarlane plays characters. And he writes/directs comedy. He was a good host.
The premiers are usually strong. The writers have all summer to write down funny shit and then pack it into a few episodes. Before we know it, there will be athletes and people who I never heard of hosting. Then it's back to the same ole' SNL.

I like Jay Phaoraoh I think he's one of the best imprssionist SNL has had in a while. Hammond was good because of his Clinton and Jesse Jackson but c'mon Pharoah has a killer Denzel, Will Smith, Obama, and Eddie Murphy. also Tim Robinson looks like he'll be a funny guy.

Overall I enjoyed the show, with the puppet being the best of the night. Seth was a great host but I am a fan of his anyway so I loved all his voice stuff. It really is impressive that he does all those voices on the fly like that. I remember hearing interviews with the other cast members who were amazed at his ability to effortlessly float through the characters in a scene. I always assumed he did one character at a time during recording.
I hate to keep beating a dead horse but every issue I mentioned in my earlier post about Jay Pharoh was magnified with him being given such a big role as Obama. Unfunny and to top it off, I actually thought the impression was horrible. Actually worse than Arminsen by a good deal. I went on YouTube to see some of Jay’s stand up which is touted as “Best Obama Impression Ever!” and I thought it wasn’t very good there either. Do people just want him to be Obama because he is black or because they really believe his impression and material are good? His other impressions are much better so I don’t get the push for him to be Obama OTHER than race. The only thing he was good in last night was as the Latina’s boyfriend where he didn’t say a word. But his physical expressions and mannerisms were very funny. I wish he would do more of that (original characters).

It was ok. It looks like Phaorah will be pushed so now is his time to shine.
Want to see more from Kate Mckinnon the girl who everybody thought had freaky eyes.
The new fat girl seems funny though she was in one scene.
The army stuttering sketch was weak.
You have to admire Frank Ocean for stepping back and playing a videogame during John Mayers solo.
Maybe nobody has mentioned this before but the SNL backstage crew should receive Emmys for the sets, wigs, and costumes they come up especially since it is a live show and most of the stuff looks authentic and not cheap or silly.

Don't forget, SNL is running two Thursday primetime specials this year for the election. The first one starts this Thursday night at 8:00 PM Eastern, called "SNL Primetime Election Special"
Personally, I think they should have waited until the debates. Maybe they'll do some additional episodes.

Puppet sketch killed me. I hope we can expect more of that one in the future.
Great monologue by Seth. He had a solid rhythm the entire show.
Jay Pharaoh's Obama wasn't that great, but Sudeikis killed it as Romney. Almost makes me want to see Mitt win just so he'll have steady work for 4 more years.

With the exception of the monolougue and Ocean's performances this was pure shit. I'll be watching next week since I love Mumford & Sons, but not after that.
