Hotel Hell -- New Series with Gordon Ramsay -- Mondays (FOX)

Hotel Hell features Gordon Ramsay on a quest to fix horrid hotels, awful inns and just plain bad bed and breakfasts.

After more than a decade of running restaurants in some of the world's top hotels, Ramsay knows firsthand the crucial importance of surpassing guests' highest expectations. In Hotel Hell, Ramsay will endure hotels at their worst - from filthy bedrooms and mold-ridden bathrooms to dreadful room service and incompetent staff - all so unsuspecting guests don't have to.

After he has uncovered all the dirty secrets, Ramsay will put the hotel owners and employees to work as he attempts to turn around these failing establishments. With reputations on the line, one thing is certain: if they can't meet Ramsay's high standards, they will never check out of Hotel Hell.

Bad news. Only 6 episodes were produced. 2 will air this week (tonight and tomorrow)

Finally Fox uses Ramsay to do his own voice-overs! So much better.

I'm a big fan of Hotel Impossible on the Travel Channel. I wasn't aware that Ramsay is an expert on running hotels, so I'll have to check this out.

I think Ramsay is spreading himself a little too thin. FOUR shows?! REALLY?!

Kitchen Nightmares
Hell's Kitchen
Master Chef
Hotel Hell

And i don't even wanna know the ones in the UK.

Nothing against the guy, it's just there's a thing called 'overexposure'

Well, he's certainly no Alex Polizzi (of the British The Hotel Inspector), but that episode was pretty good. I mean, if the owner(s) are real, that is. I can't believe someone could be as clueless as Robert. But the entire time I was watching the episode, I was like "Man, Ramsey's gonna blow up on this guy like a damn volcano". And the last 10 minutes of the episode? Ramsey blew up on the guy like a damn volcano!

Re: Hotel Hell -- New Series with Gordon Ramsay -- Mondays (FOX)

45 minutes in and I'm still hearing about the problems, and no solutions. This is not good.

While I respect Ramsay for his food criticism, I have to give a thumbs down to this show. I notice this is a two-part episode, but I just need to see problems (first 15 minutes) and solutions (final 45 minutes).

EDIT: 55 minutes in - Ramsay offers tips about communication in the kitchen, which is great, since that is his specialty. But still no real solutions for fixing the actual hotel.

Anthony Melchiorri (Hotel Impossible) definitely has the upper hand with his show. I learn a lot from that guy. Most importantly, his two basic rules for the hotel business:

1. Clean rooms
2. Make the guests happy

That's pretty much it.

I'll stick with Ramsay for food and Melchiorri for hotels.

I would assume that Fox is kicking off the series with a two-parter and that future episodes will be a single episode. Glad that Gordon gets to do the narration. BTW, I'm a Ruth Watson fan.

Re: Hotel Hell -- New Series with Gordon Ramsay -- Mondays (FOX)

The format for this reminded me alot of Kitchen Nightmares. Thank Goodness they let Gordon narrate it.

Anyways, interesting concept, but they spent way too much time having Gordon yell at Robert than finding reasonable solutions to fix his problem. Plus, I don't think there was any need to make this a 2-part episode.

I guess there isn't alot of employment options in Vermont when you have the staff of this hotel willing to pay for their own supplies and go weeks not getting paid just to keep this shitty job. I mean really? $400 per week for an Executive Chef? $48 for that poor old lady's paycheck?

I'll tune in at least for the conclusion next week. I'll probably end up liking the show as long as he doesn't go over the top like he is in Hell's Kitchen. He's much easier to watch on KN and MC.

Oh, good to know; thanks. I don't think I set a season pass so I'll have to remember to tape it.

It was awesome imho. I also loved Ramsay doing his own voice overs...reminds me of the BBC versions of Kitchen Nightmares. Although, that intro looked straight outta Silent Hill.

so Ari and Robert are a gay couple? is that right?

if so, I thought it was hilarious when Gordon said something that the problem with the inn wasn't the staff, but it was with (bleeping) Robert, clearly not meant in the literal sense. ROFL.

I think Ramsay did at one point say "...your boyfriend Robert..." or something similar. They do live in a cozy motorhome, which I doubt has two master suites. Also it would explain why Ari would be willing to dump such a ridiculous amount (all) of his money into an utterly failing enterprise without seeming to be all that concerned. This is Robert's 'boutique.'

I'm surprised none of the staff have smashed an antique vase over the owner's head yet. He sinks hundreds of thousands of dollars into antiques - many of which just sit in a warehouse - and they have to wait for their (measly) paychecks? Jeez.

And yeah, he's just as busy overseas. I just finished watching a show where he personally mentored a group prisoners in a UK prison kitchen and tried to get a for-profit business going there. He wasn't just teaching non-chefs to cook, but he was also attending prison meetings, lobbying for funding, and doing outreach into businesses trying to line up clients. The entire show took months and he appeared to be there daily... how he has time to do all this shit I have no idea.

I don't know how he fits all that shit in, he seems to have a ridiculous number of shows and more coming out all the time.

Pretty sure he could fill his own TV network by now.

Well, I know that on Kitchen Nightmares they actually film several episodes simultaneously. Thats why you'll get a batch of resturants on Long Island, then some in suburban LA, etc.

True, and a season of Hell's Kitchen apparently takes about six weeks start to finish.

Robert needs to be severely beaten. Holy fuckballs, is that guy a total prick or what? I'd rather work at the local McDonald's, and I can't believe ANY staff would stick around for that treatment.

I don't care if Ramsey knows anything about Hotel management or not. This was one ridiculously entertaining episode. Holy shit

I just read Ramsey discovers one of the employees in a "blatant lie" in the conclusion.

Re: Hotel Hell -- New Series with Gordon Ramsay -- Mondays (FOX)

This was completely entertaining. What I don't get is if all the stuff in the lobby was only worth $25,000, why didn't Robert just sell the RV that he paid OVER $100,000 for. I'm mean, there's NO need to sleep in an RV when you're running an Inn. Just pick a room. Plus, sell ALL the crap in the 5 or 6 storage lockers. What a ridiculous hoarder. That staff is incredibly loyal. I'm still amazed how Ramsey can turn some of these places around. His patience is crazy.
