Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Also, I happened to stumble across the fact that they are currently filming a second Inbetweeners movie. Due out in August.

The show about Ian Fleming's life started out pretty well.

If you're into Irish shows, watch "Love/Hate". Brilliant drama about an Irish gang. It's been going for four seasons now and has won a lot of awards. The first 3 seasons are on Netflix.
Or if you prefer comedy, "London Irish" was fantastic. Filthy, but very very funny.

I am really looking forward to "The Trip to Italy." I loved the first Trip series with Coogan and Brydon. Really hilarious and also got to see the area i come from and how beautiful it really is. Also a few places that i have been to.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are back, with Matt Berry(!), in House of Fools. Surreal, absurdist comedy, as is the Reeves & Mortimer way. It's basically The Young Ones with a middle-age cast. Best viewed while under the influence.

Count Arthur Strong recently ended its first series. From Graham Linehan, who brought you Father Ted and The IT Crowd. Quite excellent.

My favorite recent series is Man Down, starring Greg Davies who played the counselor in The Inbetweeners. The great Rik Mayall plays his deranged prank-playing father. Perfectly fitting as Davies looks and acts like a younger Mayall. Bizarrely hilarious.

I also really enjoyed Vicious, starring Sir Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi as an elderly gay couple. An old-school '70s-style Britcom, with a cast that can't be beat.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

I tried house of fools, but the laugh track killed me, also vic and bon are old.

Line of Duty season 2 is back this week - not sure where they will go with it, but should be good.

I'm very excited about House of Fools. Vic and Bob + the Young Ones sounds like a dream to me.

Line of Duty Season 2 is off to an amazing start.

Keeley Hawes from Spooks is in it.

Great episode. The thing I like about the show is that, even though they use old gimmicks sometimes, it is still written and acted in a fresh, funny way.

This past episode (The Girlfriend) - so many obvious plot points/easy solutions (locking his phone/putting it on silent would have resolved the situation) but they were hilariously executed.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Yeah, it was a great start to the season. The last episode (the Christmas episode they did last year) was by far the weakest of the series with every joke being forced & disgusting... it was like a bad Adam Sandler movie.

The fox episode (FND) was just weird as hell and bizarre.

That's what made it work for me though. You really didn't see anything they did coming so it was funnier.

I was waiting for the fox to thaw out and start running around.

Loved this show, even finding the opening titles hilarious. Not sure where they'll go with it following the recent death of Rik Mayall if a second season was planned.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

A second season was planned. Greg Davies said it was being written with Rik Mayall having a much larger part. Unfortunately they'll have to change all that now.

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

I've watched four eps of Wallander these past few weeks. The pacing is kind of slow, but the acting is brilliant. Just read recently that even though Series 3 was released back in 2011, we are getting a Series 4 in 2015. I think I can finish off the other 5 episodes before then.

Oh I'm watching these on Amazon Prime... and it's fun to see Tom Hiddleston in these.

Netflix recently added "Peaky Blinders" w/ Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill.

Has anyone seen it - thoughts?

Re: General UK TV Show chatter.

Moone Boy is now showing on PBS stations (at least in Boston). Only seen a couple episodes so far, but I'm loving it. Steve Coogan as "Touchy" Feehley.
