Big Brother 14 season thread

http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/season/14/cast/ Its that time of year again, the cast was just annouced. I dont know how to post the pictures if someone else wants to. But four players are returning as mentors, another hantz family member is on a CBS reality show, and I think Kara was a former playmate of the year.

Can not wait. I don't think I've watched a single network primetime show this Summer.

I won't even call this show a guilty pleasure, there is nothing to be guilty about.

Re: Big Brother 14 season thread

I've heard that the four "mentors" will be:

Spoiler:
Rachel and Boogie (as "villain" mentors) and Dan and Janelle (as "hero" mentors).

...and looking at the list, holy shit, Jenn Arroyo used to play bass for heavy metal band Kittie.

...and I'd be perfectly happy if I never saw another fucking Hantz as long I live.

Ugh, another fucking Hantz?

And I hope it's true, but for the first time in the program guide there's a little "HD" next to the title.

Not thrilled with, once again, the return of former houseguests.

A few first impressions...

JoJo has a ridiculous name, but she is smoking hot.

I knew Willie was related to Russell even before I saw the last name.

Wil looks like a serial killer.

For you wrestling fans, I'm pretty sure Frank is Sid Eudy's son. The resemblence is there, it's not a common name, and Sid retired to his Arkansas farm years ago.

Re: Big Brother 14 season thread

I was excited about the HD (as shown on the DirecTV guide) as well. You've got to figure that they were waiting for either HD production/camera costs to go down, this respresents a multiple season committment by CBS, or both.

Thats correct - according to F4online.com/WrestlingObserver.com -

Frank Eudy, the 28-year-old son of Sid Vicious, will be one of the guys in the house for the new season of
Big Brother which debuts next Thursday at 9:00 pm ET on CBS. He's competing for $500,000. Frank Eudy
has never done pro wrestling, and in his bio, there is no mention of his father or pro wrestling. All that is
listed is that he's unemployed, lives in Naples, FL and grew up in Marion, AR. His goal for the season is to
make sure his hair is camera ready at all times.

and Yes, to the orginial OP - Kara Monaco is a former Playboy Playmate Of The Year - 2006.

I'll be watching. Every year I consider skipping it, but it's become a part of Summer for me.

Not thrilled about more returning houseguests.

Re: Big Brother 14 season thread

I could live with just about anything this season. I need some trashy television stat.

I hope, in a year or two, that they do an "all-star" episode and bring back Michele Noonan. She was pretty popular during her season as the "cute," strong, player who probably would have won the game if she made it to the end. She was this scientist that was very likable and desperate, in a good way, to get the approval of the "cool" people.

Now, many plastic surgeries and a playboy tv porn appearance later, I really, really want to how the BB audience would react to a player who's so fundamentally changed from their first appearance.

Re: Big Brother 14 season thread

I like Danielle and Kara based on the first pictures. I was hoping for another all stars season, maybe next year. I hope its gonna be in hd, but have read its pretty unlikely, because of costs and quick turn around on episodes.

I think I read that one of the issues is the huge amount of storage space they need for all the HD footage. Hopefully they have solved that problem. With the hard drive production issues, they've probably had to pay a lot more this year than if they had done it last year. If it is in HD this year, I am really gonna need to clear some space on my DVR to handle all the BB After Dark episodes that I always fall behind on.

Damn, didn't even think of the AD implications if it's filmed in HD. No chance I'd be able to DVR all of those.

Re: Big Brother 14 season thread

For some reason BBAD doesn't have the "HD" logo next to it like the CBS show does. Not sure how much that means, but odd.

All sound good except
Spoiler:
Rachel. After having her on two seasons, plus The Amazing Race, she's making a career of this, and I think we could all use a break LOL!

Someone just inquired, so I'll throw it out there...

There any interest in a Big Brother DVDTalk game?

I'm in, but you already knew that. I think the only time I've played was when I picked Rachel during her first season. Hopefully I end up with someone I can actually root for this time.

I think that After Dark still went out in HD even though it was filmed in standard def since Showtime 2 is a HD channel, so it might not take much more space in HD than it did is SD.

Standard definition programming usually takes up about 1% of my DVR space per two hours of programming, and I seem to recall that BBAD used to take up about 4% of my drive per episode.

Network HD programming usually eats up about 2% of my DVR space per hour, and HD cable programs take up a bit less. HBO programming like "Game of Thrones" takes up about 1.5% of my DVR per hour.
