the behind the scenes did feel like a Keith Olbermann type but as a news anchor it felt more like Piers Morgan.

Also it mentions that the show takes place in 2010 and the main plot of the pilot was the gulf oil spill, so it appears the show will take real stories

i work in a newsroom/control room every day, so i was pretty sure this would get its hooks into me, but even with that bias it exceeded my expectations.

So the British woman seemed super annoying...and I thought I had been building up my tolerance to annoying characters by watching Girls all these past weeks. Any chance she will dial back the accent at least?

So is it gonna be for every breaking story that this newsroom will always have someone on the inside and be able to immediately figure out what's really going on before everyone else? That could get very old fast.

Having Jesse Eisenberg as one of the guys being interviewed on the phone really took me out of the show.

I guess I'll come back next week just to see how Munn does.

i interned at the local FOX station several years ago. while its not as hectic obviously, it was quite accurate as to how a show like that is dipicted

And here I thought the Munn hate wouldn't start until next week when she actually debuts.

Liked the debut a lot, though the only thing I didn't like was the dialogue between Daniel's character and his producer/ex girlfriend.

If only because every time Sorkin writes dialogue such as that you always get the impression he still can't get over Kristin Chenoweth and he's yelling at her again for something he feels she did wrong.

As for those thinking he's now sleeping with Munn, it was just reported Sorkin's now dating Kristin Davis from Sex in the City.

I liked the show, but I think the real weakness is the real news stories. Congrats to them on solving the BP spill in about an hour.

I wonder though if it will all be real news stories. I can't recall if West Wing ever integrated any real events into the timeline of the show. I'm thinking we could get a mix of the two.

Depending on how long the show runs, it'll eventually have to create it's own reality. That first episode was April 2010. I'm guessing with so few episodes a season there'll be a few weeks to a month gap in the "timeline" between episodes.

And the West Wing hinted at real world things at times, but its reality seemed to have been invented right after the Reagan administration.

Absolutely amazing show. HBO should have another hit on their hands if you ask me. Jeff Daniels was great as expected and it was nice to see Sam Waterson in there too, I always liked his character on Law & Order. The rest of the cast was damn good as well. I'm definitely in for the season.

I'm tempering my expectations for future episodes, as all reviews agree that while the premier is solid, there's a noticeable step down in the next few episodes.
