Re: True Blood -- "Authority Always Wins" -- 6/17/12

Hey, I'm considerably older than 29 and I watched the first few seasons of One Tree Hill (until they fast forwarded 4 years or something like that). Brooke and Peyton were kind of hot, and there was Moira Kelly and Coach Whitey (seriously). I like basketball, and it was a kind of interesting hook into North Carolina basketball culture (which exists, despite Bobcats evidence to the contrary).

Anyway, as it relates to True Blood, Tara can go either way. We'll have to see how it plays out.

If I had to pick the most interesting part of the show right this moment, it'd be the Authority storyline. Christopher Meloni was kinda cool, though I'd have rather him go ahead and stake Bill, just not through the heart. Then say something like, "I'd really like to have aimed that better." If you know you're not going to do anything, no point in even starting the motion. It ends up comically playing out like, "Psyche!"

Shapeshifter? Meh. Werewolves? Meh. Jason? Meh. ex-Military stuff? Meh. Lafayette as a witch? On layaway. We're just starting the season, so these things can pick up, but so far, it's authority and then Tara, in terms of interesting storylines. But there's always Russel Edgington on the horizon to come and ham things up. Oh, and it's always nice to see Jessica.

Yeah, I liked the use of Lilith, Adam's first wife from Jewish lore, as a part of vampire beliefs and rituals. I hope they do more stuff like this in the show.

Damnit, I've had that John Mellencamp song playing in my head all week.
