Too bad it's not the series finale.

Ah well, next year at the rate the ratings keep plummeting.

I think I'm one of the few viewers on this board that don't plan to say goodbye to McKinley High forever tonight, but I do have to agree with you. It's a logical end point, especially with essentially half the cast graduating, Sue being x-months pregnant, and Shu getting married. It would have been very easy to have done another 2 hour episode to successfully wrap up the storylines and show Kurt and Rachel heading off into the sunset towards New York - especially as the show has obviously started to go down the tubes for the past 6 months.

But 66 episodes isn't enough for syndication and while it's ratings arn't anything like they used to be - it's still really good for a scripted program on FOX - next fall will be interesting if the ratings stay the same or if the show is destroyed.

Interesting tidbit according to the Huffington Post about tonight's finale:
Spoiler:
It will not feature Shu's wedding

Re: Glee -- Season Finale -- "Goodbye" -- 5/22/12

I had forwarded through this episode in about 10 minutes. Skipped most of the songs, all the Kirk stuff (even forwarded through Heather Morris dancing in tights on Single Ladies), most of the Puck stuff, all of the Santana stuff and all of the stuff with Sue.

Oh sure I had a few questions like "did Britney graduate?" But in the end it doesn't matter as I will never watch this show again. A few weeks ago, I still thought I cared about these characters, but now I realize that I don't care about them at all.

Watched it with the wife.

So, what happens with the graduating "kids"? Are they going off the show?

As far as I know, Lea Michele said she's returning.

I watched a couple of the songs and I watched Finn break up with Rachel. Obviously I saw a few seconds of stuff when I stopped fast forwarding.

Believe it or not, I used to LOVE this show.

I'm guessing they're going to do something where they bounce between multiple storylines in different geographical regions. Similar to Game of Thrones, if you will.

I'd be interested to know which characters aren't returning. I stopped 1/2 through last season but might watch again if they dump Kurt. The whole damn show was about him at that point.

You're guessing or you read the multiple news articles that outright stated that that's what they'll be doing next season?

Ryan Murphy told the Huffington Post (and then TVline picked it up) that next season they will be doing entire episodes set in one place. For example this is what it could be like:

Episode 1 - Kirk and Rachel in NYC
Episode 2 - Ohio
Episode 3 - Ohio
Episode 4 - Kirk and RAchel in NYC
Episode 5 - Different no-longer regular character

I could see this being really good for the show or a complete disaster. In one way, I could see where being able to focus on separate storylines might make each of those narratives stronger. On the other hand, you might have a particular setting or set of characters that completely doesn't click. When a NYC episode comes up, you might have viewers decide to tune out. It could also be a total momentum killer. I don't know what I think about that.

Prob. because she had that skirt thing around her area. Why? Her body is even better than it was when they did it the first time. Makes no sense. That was cute though. That scene was what first got me watching Glee.

I can't watch Darren and Chris talk about how Darren is so sad Chris is graduating while he's not when he's SO obviously older than Chris.

mostly blah. I'm sure I'll watch a few next season but it's off my DVR list.

Looks like the approach George R.R. Martin took with his two previous Game of Thrones books. Once you take what should be a focused story and set it on such a grand scale , quality starts to slip. Or in this case, moreso.

So they will actually lose viewers as they decide what "show" they want to watch. Genius.

Re: Glee -- Season Finale -- "Goodbye" -- 5/22/12

Loved it. Watched the last three episodes back to back and it finished really strong. While this hasn't been my favorite season, there were plenty of bright moments and I was truly sad to see these characters move on.

Considering the relationships I still have today originated in a high school choir room, this show has always been special to me. Hell, the seniors at my school even had a recital where we performed for the underclassmen, so it couldn't have been more fitting. I met my wife in choir 20 years ago now...and we watched this together. So many nice moments between these characters I genuinelly enjoy and will truly miss

But I'm also excited to see what they do next year. I hope things get more back on track, but no real complaints from me going forward.

I have to agree with the sentiment here. A mediocre season that ended with 3 very strong episodes.

Re: Glee -- Season Finale -- "Goodbye" -- 5/22/12

I feel the same way. Really mediocre season that was all over the place and went the Afterscool Special way too often but the last three episodes were more what Glee used to be like.
What ever happen to Shelby?

Regarding who is coming back, I think they are negotiating now but I read that they were not all coming back full-time.

Re: Glee -- Season Finale -- "Goodbye" -- 5/22/12

I liked this episode quite a bit. It was definitely on par with some of my favorite episodes to date. I didn't particularly care for a lot of this season but I'm not going to bail out because I am curious to see where they go next season.
