I thought it was pretty good for a recent episode, but I don't watch many of them. Lady GaGa wasn't bad either. The only crappy part was Lisa singing.

I've been enjoying this season, but I couldn't get through this episode. I stopped paying attention and realized I wasn't even fast forwarding the commercials to get back to the show.

There was an older episode on my DVR, which I had never seen, which flashed back to Homer and Marge in the 90's, Homer inventing grunge. That one I enjoyed.

I haven't watched the Simpsons in years, but tuned in to see Gaga... ouch.

Nice to see things haven't changed and Lisa-centric episodes are still bad. Even Gaga couldn't save this one.

Am I the only one who thought that didn't even sound like her for much of the show? She seemed to be missing her "rasp."

My Other Self

I've actually enjoyed Season 23 for the most part. There's been some really decent episodes (like How I Wet Your Mother). I watched a clip of this episode on The Simpsons Facebook page and it looked just like a giant advert for Gaga's music. Kind of an over the top appearance. I don't think they really need to have musical guests performing unless something hilarious comes of it like Green Day in The Simpsons Movie.

I'll catch this episode later this week but kind of disappointing for a season finale.
For the many, many years I've been a fan Lisa has always been the least interesting of the family, but I tend to like a lot of the Lisa-centric episodes. Of the last few years the best one has been The President wore Pearls from Season 15 (almost 9 years ago already ). But, going back to the Golden Era of Seasons 2 - 8, you have Lisa the Iconoclast, Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy, Lisa the Greek, Lisa on Ice, Summer of 4'2", and Lisa's Wedding.

IMO there's nothing wrong with the series from the pilot all the way up until the first half of Season 9. But, I still think a lot of the classic episodes that are Lisa-centric are pretty damn good.

They found a way to make Lady Gaga seem too ridiculous, but I bet the animation crew loved coming up with all the crazy stuff on the train, and outfits. Kudos to Gaga for having the largest guest star role since Michael Jackson, and I loved "Homer Face". Not a big fan of the ep overall though - definitely a huge step down from what was a great season otherwise.

I had no idea that GaGa was so big/popular as to warrant an entire Simpsons episode all to herself - or maybe that just says more for the state of the Simpsons. I did enjoy Homer singing Poker Face over the credits.

The one moment that got a chuckle out of me was Homer climbing up to talk to Lisa and then realizing he got the wrong tree. Otherwise, this was a pretty poor episode. As mcfly said, it seemed like a Gaga infomercial parading as a Simpsons episode. It doesn't help that I'm not at all a Lady Gaga fan. I did think the Gaga train was a funny visual, though.

No. I just thought she was a musician who sold a lot of records - mostly disposable pop music. Popular, but not some sort of cultural behemoth. So what am I missing?

One of the worst episodes broadcast since the Mike Scully as head showrunner era. It reminded me of that horrible episode when one of the boy bands appeared and had a big role.

Was that the Nsync one where they ended up spoofing the Navy or something like that? To be honest that entire season was awful.

I've blocked it from memory but do remember something involving the boy band on a boat or ship.

That episode didn't make me quit The Simpsons, but that's the season I lost interest. I watched a few episodes again a few years later, with the only funny gag I remember being the long list of fake jazz and bluegrass band names playing at a festival.

Yeah, I was checking Twitter, so half watching the episode and still got really bored. One of the worst.

Maybe some fans of Lady Gaga really enjoyed this episode.

Ditto. The tree thing was funny and Homer singing Poker Face, but those bits were so short and at the very end that the rest of the episode was pretty hard to sit through. Of the 500+ episodes of this show, even mediocre ones have been enjoyable to me, but this one was quite bad.

But this show has been entertaining me for almost 2/3 of my life so I will forgive them!

I haven't watched Simpsons regularly in a long time (though I catch a good share of the syndicated eps. ) , so I caught this one as I am guilty pleasure GaGa fan and thought it might be funny. For the most part, it was. However, I agree that it felt more like she was promoting herself than anything else. I also found it weird that she looked more human as a Simpson character than in real life.

My Other Self

Season 12 is considered by most fans to be the worst season of the show by a lot. Season 11 usually comes in second.

Season 12 is garbage with the exception of Skinner's Sense of Snow, which feels more like it was in Season 8 or something and held over for a couple of years. That's a classic episode.

New Kids on the Blech, which is the episode with NSYNC that you're referring to, has grown on me over the years for a couple of lines. Yvan eht nioj is still funny to me.

The Simpsons Lady Gaga is more attractive than the real version and yes that did not sound like her doing the voice.
