"I need to stop carrying so much money"

LOL!

I'm starting to FF scenes where Betty is alone or without people from the main cast (i.e. WW scene).

She showed disappointment, joy, anger, and envy all within 5 seconds...maybe she is just a vile, bitter **** in real life and none of this is acting.
Matthew Weiner must hate her because she's getting the full Butters treatment.

I love how Betty is never happy with what she has, and the childish way she lashes out at others to make herself feel better. I also like the contrast between Sally and Betty in terms of how maturely each one acts. I know a lot of people hate January Jones, but I think she's great in this role, and I find her character really interesting.

Personally, I've been loving this season. It could very well end up my favorite season of this show yet. Oh, and Ginsberg is awesome.

I'm pretty sure she is upset with herself. But Roger is equally responsible.

I liked Betty and January too. I think it's just you and me, though.

Ditto. You could tell it was heavily edited. Plus, they shouldn't have given Keirnan nearly as much coverage as the other actors who have much lengthier resumes. I was surprised to learn that Jared Harris is the son of Richard and Liz Taylor. Was laughing when they described Pete as "creepy and off-putting to women". My take exactly and I'm a man. It was nice of them to explain why Elizabeth Moss was absent and give her some love.

Try one as the credits were rolling. They should have extended at least to 90 minutes just given the number of actors on the stage, nevermind the fact that it's MAD MEN.

Nope - I've always appreciated what she brings to the table.

That WOULD be a surprise if that were true! They did say that he's the son of Richard Harris(which I think most people knew) and the stepson of Rex Harrison. Liz Taylor was married to a lot of different guys, but never to either one of them. Richard Harris' wife was named Elizabeth, but was not Elizabeth Taylor.

I continue to be amazed how OLD he and John Slattery look. He's 50 and Slattery is 49.

I agree that they completely butchered the show though, it was almost unwatchable, the editing was just vile beyond belief. Given how much absolute crud Bravo broadcasts, you would think they could have given this even an extra half hour. It's not like it has any production costs, and they obviously had 6 hours of tape.

I still love he show and will always watch it but I feel like I don't know where it's all headed.

Feels like there is no direction to the show that I can see. What's the end game here?

I think the end game is the complete phasing out of Don and an era that has now passed him by...

I think the end will be 1969 moon landing or there abouts...

I recall reading Weiner say he sees the show ending in the current day.

Re: Mad Men -- "Dark Shadows" -- 5/13/12

That's the last scene. We see Don in current times.

But the actual ending should be in 1969 or something. This show is all about the 60's.

Next season Don will have big mutton chop sideburns, turtleneck and tweed sports jacket.

Was there anything to indicate that Don wrote that note for Betty to find?

I think that would be really out of character for him.

I remember Jon Hamm saying something that he didn't expect the show to go into the 70's. I could see the early 70's but not much later.

Don and the old gang already come off like Marty McFly's siblings on his photos. I can't see them lasting much longer.

Finally had a chance to watch this last night, and yeah, it should've been a longer episode. It felt very rushed.

Christina looked particularly good!

Maybe I'm just giving her too much credit, but I thought that awkwardness was intentional. Betty is Borderline and acts like “a 5th grader” all the time.

And for what it is worth, just because she makes me hate her, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate her. I think she is great, an evil bitch, but great…

Re: Mad Men -- "Dark Shadows" -- 5/13/12

Is she playing a character that acts like a 5th grader, or is the character written like that to make up for the actresses flaws?

Re: Mad Men -- "Dark Shadows" -- 5/13/12

I don't know why they would waste time writing for someone who couldn't act. It's not like they don't have actors beating down the door to be on the show.

I've always felt January Jones played her part perfectly - Betty is supposed to be a petulant and spoiled princess who has gotten through life on her looks alone. She can't handle it when things are crumbling around her and she lashes out at everyone.
