The CW picks up 5 shows.

The CW has picked up five new hourlong series for fall, including the Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries, a reboot of Beauty and the Beast and the superhero saga Arrow. Also getting a green light are dark thriller Cult and medical dramedy First Cut.

Conspicuously missing from the pack is the Hunger Games-esque The Selection.

In for Arrow. However, Laurel Lance? John Diggle? Thea? Moira? Quentin? That has to be the worst group of character names ever collected into a single show.

Re: The CW picks up 5 shows.

Hart of Dixie has been renewed.

I think that just leaves Gossip Girl, Ringer and The Secret Circle. GG is expected back for a final season. Chances are probably low for TSC and Ringer with all those other series ordered. (I'm not considering L.A. Complex right now.)

EDIT: These pickups and cancellations are coming too fast. The Secret Circle has been renewed too.

Secret Circle renewed. The Ringer cancelled. Sucks for SMG

Gossip Girl renewed for a shortened Final Season

I actually enjoy LA Complex. Wouldnt mind seeing those 13 episodes that Canada ordered.

It sounds like TSC has actually been cancelled.

Re: The CW picks up 5 shows.

So TSC is cancelled. Did the show end on a cliffhanger? I enjoyed the show but am half a dozen episodes behind. I'd rather just cut my losses now and delete everything I have left if it ended with a cliffhanger.

Re: The CW picks up 5 shows.

TVline.com F***ed up, "The Secret Circle" has been canceled. Boy am I not happy right now. It would have been one thing had I never heard the renewal news, but a tease like that stings a little bit - especially after last night's episode.

But I'm happy for the "nikita" fans!

Re: The CW picks up 5 shows.

OK, I only watched the pilot episode of Secret Circle and liked it a lot but haven't had time to watch beyond that. Is it worth watching the rest of the season? I don't mind that it's been cancelled as long as it's an enjoyable show...unless cliffhangers really ruin it. Keep in mind that I watched all of Ringer and I need it to be a better show than that.

I'm wondering if Ringer will be back?

Ringer got axed.

FYI. Beauty and the Beast stars Kristin Kreuk from Smallville. It's an update of the old CBS series.

Personally I really enjoyed "The Secret Circle" this year, moreso than "The Vampire Diaries." But the quality of each individual episode was a little hit or miss with 2 patches of a handful of episodes that were a little boring. But overall it was a fun ride. It does end on a cliffhanger, but nothing earth shattering.

Re: The CW picks up 5 shows.

Ringer was the only show I was watching on the CW. I suppose it was more out of some misguided leftover Buffy loyalty more than anything else. It was decent enough just as a trashy bad soap. I would have likely continued watching had it not been canned. Oh well.

Nikita is reportedly a full 22 episode season as well.

Ringer was the one new CW show I would have watched. Figures.

Re: The CW picks up 5 shows.

Man, that just stinks. The Secret Circle had a bad ass set up for a second season and I am totally bummed it wasn't renewed. I actually looked forward to that more than Vampire Diaries, which I also watch. But I am ECSTATIC that Nikita was renewed. It has been firing on all cylinder this season and it has become this seasons 24, without the ticking clock.

Re: The CW picks up 5 shows.

Dammit. I bailed on Ringer without watching, though I had 10 or so episodes saved, because I saw the writing on the wall. But I thought The Secret Circle was doing okay. I've got about 8 of those to watch. Oh well, frees up the summer a bit more.

STOKED about Nikita. That show deserves far more love than it gets.

NO! It dips so much in quality in the second half of the season. Not worth it.

To be honest I felt the same but I thought maybe there was a slight chance it would come back, but not much
