Synopsis:

Spoiler:
A stolen diaper leads to a high-speed car chase. With a little help from an old boss, Andy (Ed Helms) goes undercover as a janitor and stages a takeover. And a new business opportunity arises for Robert California (two-time Emmy winner James Spader). John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, Leslie David Baker, Phyllis Smith, Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Kate Flannery, Paul Lieberstein, Creed Bratton, Craig Robinson, Ellie Kemper, Zach Woods, and Catherine Tate also star.

Episode 24 of 24

As I mentioned in the NBC thread, this is expected to get renewed for a 9th season. Helms, Krasinski and Fischer all re-signed for another season.

Best line out of the night was Nellie's: "Get out, skeleton man!"

Seriously, that was probably the most bizarre episode of this show ever.

Oh, forgot to mention the near "Heroes" cast reunion. You'd think they could find a way to make that happen.

I was kinda partial to "The coconut's pretty subtle"

Funny seeing Mos clean shaven. He really seemed normal until he started doing that crazy run of his.

Like the opening with Oscar's It Gets Better Video.

I thought this season started strong but week after week my enthusiasm for The Office drained. I love a lot of the characters but why the show no longer works for me is all this emphasis on the relationship between Andy and Erin. I think maybe the reason the will-they-or-won't-they between Jim and Pam worked so well was because they were realistic, nauanced characters. They felt like real people and the trials and tribulations of their relationship truely moved me. Since Andy and Erin are such broad cartoon characters (which is great, I think they are both very funny) I can't get emotionaly involved in their joys and sorrows because I don't believe them.

Along with Robert's nostalgia for "original" flavor.

As usual the opening was the best part. I'm guess they are bringing back Nellie...

I can't say yet if I'm going to bother next season. Maybe just to see what happens.

I thought it was quite good, especially compared to most of the rest of the season.

I thought Nellie's "skeleton man" line was good, but the line that made me laugh the loudest was a different one from her. I can't remember it exactly, but it was her response to Andy when he asked what an events coordinator was. Something like, "I run around the office doing whatever I want." Her delivery was just brilliant. Nice to see such a loathsome character finally bring some funny.

Bringing back David Wallace to buy back DM and jettison all of the Sabre b.s. is a nice reset button move.

There is potential, but can they capitalize on it?

I know not many like him, but I do hope they find some way to keep Gabe around.

They sure gave Robert a creepy send-off.

What a bizarre and unfunny episode. Had no idea it was the season finale either.

Remember the days of SUPERSIZED Office finales and they actually felt like season finales...and we couldnt wait to see the next season. I miss those days. This didnt feel like a finale at all. Too bad NBC doesnt realize that P&R is the comedy they should be putting all their bank on.

When the show started, Michael and Dwight were the only really “cartoony” people on the show and it was generally acknowledged by the rest of the staff that these were the two misfits of the crew. So yes, Jim and Pam seemed to have a real relationship that you were invested in.

But as is the case with almost any comedy on television, once it’s run more than a few seasons, the characters become caricatures of themselves. If you watch the first episode of Happy Days, the Fonz is nothing like the guy at the end of the series. Hell even on a show such as the Simpsons, which is a real cartoon, Homer went from being a buffoon to super over the top caricature of a buffoon.

At this point, basically everyone on the show is now just a caricature of their original character.

I don’t know that I can watch this mess again if they bring Nellie back.

I hope Nellie isn't really coming back. That was absolutely stupid the way Andy offered her a job. Same with the way Robert California talked his way into some sort of position.

Yeah, it really didn't feel like a season finale to me, either. The only real 'cliffhanger' is the Dwigt and Angela storyline. I think we can all guess how that's going to turn out. And Mose as Dwigt was pretty funny.

The skeleton man probably would've been funnier to me if it wasn't kind of a rehash of how Erin didn't like sex as it was "like getting tackled by a skeleton."

I thought offering Nellie a job was just stupid after she completely fucked Andy out of his job.

The Robert part I could buy, since it was consistent with the persuasiveness we've seen from his character since his first interview.

I wouldn't be surprised if the writers wrote Nellie's character out in the offseason. I have a sense that the writers/creators know the remaining fans hate the character, and may just send her along her way with a quick 1 sentence throwaway line.

Which reminds me, did they ever address what eventually happened with Pam's replacement who had the hots for Jim? I missed that if they did.

A line in the first episode about her being murdered would be hilar!

I just wish that David Wallace responded to Robert after his speech something like "I'm not an idiot. You get nothing, get the hell out."

I kept waiting for something to that effect... oh well. I'm just glad to see Robert California make his exit. Not a fan.
