Yes, that's right. 2-part crossover episodes.
Tonight on Hawaii Five-O
Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Part 2: Tuesday on NCIS: Los Angeles at 9pm
Spoiler:
FYI, as some of you know, Alex Loughlin checked into drug rehab recently and wasn't able to shoot these episodes. He was supposed to since his character knows LL Cool J's on NCIS: LA. Daniel Dae Kim (Chin) filled in for him for the Los Angeles episode.

Re: Hawaii Five-O and NCIS: Los Angeles -- 2 night crossover event -- 4/30/12 - 5/01/
Was wondering when this was airing. TV episodes have been so sporadic the last couple of weeks I wasn't sure when it was on.
Never seen 'Hawaii Five-O', but am a huge fan of 'NCIS: LA' so I'll be sure to watch these back to back on the DVR later in the week.
Now I gotta go on tv.com and find out when the new episodes of the other shows I watch are back on

I knew that some here would have an issue with this crossover. It happened with the CSI Trilogy a few years ago. Some said they didn't watch one or the other and don't like being forced to watch something they don't have time for.
As for Steve being MIA, they wrote it into the story, so I have no issues with it. I know it's about Steve and Danno, but Chin is a more than capable replacement, especially for the LA episode.
Edit: I know the posters here are a little more finicky, but I just checked the H50 and NCIS:LA Facebook pages and I didn't see anyone really flaming doing a crossover. Most are happy to see something like this happen. There were a few Ughhs on H50 site for Alex being MIA because of his rehab stint.

I don't watch Five-O but I don't have a huge problem with crossovers (love NCIS: LA and I probably won't watch the Hawaii portion). I understood the CSI crossovers more since it's obvious all those shows existed within the same universe (kinda like the Law & Order and SVU crossovers). With NCIS and Hawaii, it's not quite as clear as to why the shows are in the same universe.

My cousin always pimps NCIS LA (and NCIS). Damn, now I'll have to watch it.

They explained it earlier this season. Kenzi Blye appeared on 5-O because she's acquainted with Joe White, who was McGarrett's training officer in the Navy. Also Sam Hanna and McGarrett know each other because they served in the Seals together. You should watch the 5-O portion because Sam and Callen are guest starring and the episodes are linked. Look at it as a "bonus" NCIS: LA episode.

I remember them mentioning Blye went to Hawaii (and it came up again during the investigation into her father's death) but I didn't watch the Five-O episode where she went. I missed them mentioning Hanna served with McGarrett. They usually do a good "previously on" so I'm sure I'll get the gist of what happened on Five-O before LA comes on.

Pretty cool episode.
I've been to Hawaii twice, and finally, they have a scene at a place I've been to (the International Market)
I'm sort of looking forward to watching the NCIS LA portion now

I know a little comic banter is par for the course on NCIS LA, but it felt really out of place in this episode. They were looking for a virus that could wipe 1/3 of the Earth's population and the have time to joke around?

I haven't finished the NCSI LA half yet but over all I'm liking it
on the crossover topic, since according to IMDB Patrick Labyorteaux hasn't been too busy lately McGarret needs to be court martialed for something so they can bring Bud back

Just got back from being out of town for a day.
Watched the crossover tonight.
Loved the Hawaii Five-O segment. Lots of action and suspense and I enjoyed seeing Callen and Sam interact with the H50 team. Although they were sorely missing McGarrett's presence.
Part 2 was a mixed bag for me. Like Norm just said, NCIS LA does incorporate a little humor into the show, but in this episode it was total overkill and forced. I even cringed when Chin and Danny were yucking it up with them. I don't mind humor in shows like this, but it just didn't work here. I think the episode would have been a little better had McGarrett been the one who came to LA with Danny. The resolution to the storyline was very Meh.
Also, did the events of these 2 episodes take place over the course of 1 day? It sure seemed like it. Especially with everyone wearing the same clothes. The time issues was another thing I had problems with.

Well I confirmed to myself that I don't like NCIS LA...haha
It was an ok episode, but those IT people are terrible. After watching Chloe on "24" dominate, those two NCIS LA people looked amateur.
And that one LAPD liaison (?) guy yelling "federal agent!" and he wasn't even near the doctor. He just decided to give her a head start

why not wait until one of them was behind her and the other was right in front of her to announce who you are

Chase Scene Ex Machina - actually being smart and waiting until you have the suspect cornered would deprive the audience of the "thrilling" chase scene at the end of the episode.

Gotta have that chase at the end even if the setup is beyond stupid. I understand the banter to a certain extent: given all the crap they deal with on a regular basis, if they don't keep it light they'll burn out quickly.
I normally hate Deeks but he was extra annoying this week. Is it bad that I wished the character became infected with the virus and died?

Everytime I saw that Deeks character, I immediately thought of "Cellular" and how he dressed up as a whale to hand out promotional materials.
It didn't give his NCIS LA character any badass credibility...haha
