Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Dermot Mulroney ("The Grey"), Jeanne Tripplehorn ("Big Love"), Mary Elizabeth Ellis ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia") and Kali Hawk ("Bridesmaids") Guest-Star

Jess fears she and Russell (guest star Mulroney) don't share the fiery passion he exhibits with his ex-wife Ouli (guest star Tripplehorn). Meanwhile, Cece is not yet willing to admit her true feelings for Schmidt, so she encourages him to go on a date with one of her Russian model roommates. Then, a down-in-the-dumps Nick channels all of his energy into a new vegetable garden in the all-new "Tomatoes" episode of NEW GIRL airing Tuesday, April 24 (9:00-9:31 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (NG-122) (TV-14 D, L, S)

I loved Winston gluing tomatoes onto the plant to make Nick think he had accomplished something.

I liked Nick and Jess yelling at each other at the end there. Seems obvious they'll get together eventually, but hopefully they keep prolonging it.

Was it "de jew" or "your douche"? Either way great line.

She said "Jewish" and it sounded like "douche", iirc.

Winston was spot on this episode, from gluing the tomato to the plant, and having the montage making schmidt get a stiffy in his broken penis lol.

When Cece was leaving the hospital room, she bent over, and schmidt yells 'Don't bend over!'

"I'm sorry, it's the yoga pants."

This was definitely a good one. "You git! Git off my farm!" Nick is a pathetic riot. I was hoping the things Winston was saying to Schmidt at the end would go longer....it cut to the end after just a few. So many opportunities there!

Too bad Dermot Mulroney is gone. He had great chemistry w/ the cast.

I dont know how I feel about Nick getting progressively more dumb and silly. I mean...he was a lawyer at one point right? I dont remember him being so pathetic in the beginning.

He dropped out of Law school.

You don't remember Nick being pathetic? Nick was much more pathetic at the start of the series than he was now, did you miss the Caroline episodes?

I mean he was pathetic...but lately it seems really over the top.

The Russian model's lines are great. The exchange about McMouse was hilarious. Unfortunately I see this show suffering the same fate as Community, where it's incredibly funny but unappealing to mainstream viewers. Ratings have been dropping all season for this show.

Re: New Girl -- "Tomatoes" -- 4/24/12

I really enjoyed this episode, but I'm cringing at the thought of Jess and Nick getting together. Not that I don't think it'll be funny when it happens, just that it's what every other show out there does. I'd prefer them to just remain ridiculous friends who have lives outside each other and the apartment. Also, I'm going to miss fancyman. He's the type of guy I could picture growing old together with.

Re: New Girl -- "Tomatoes" -- 4/24/12

I always seem to be on the fence with this show. It's definitely above average, and sometimes very funny. But I was pretty so-so on this episode and find that the whole quasi-"Friends" feel of it is a bit shopworn. I like Zooey Deschanel's character and feel that most of the really strong episodes are built around her. Schmidt is also usually pretty funny. Not that I mind the other characters so much, but the show just seems much funnier when either Jess or Schmidt get most of the story.

As it is, the show has just been too erratic in quality from week to week for me to really commit to it, so I don't really go out of my way to watch it unless I happen to be home when it's on (about 70% of this season).

I love how every week the producers decide for us what their funniest lines will be and post a hashtag DURING THE SCENE!!

This week #mcmouse appeared at the bottom of the screen as soon as the word escaped her mouth.

Except the closed captioning showed it as Mick Mouse...which makes more sense than McMouse, in the context the broad was using it.

I've seen it on Workaholics too. I hate it, it really cheapens the joke IMO.

That scene was great though, her listing the things she liked about the US killed me.

Winston messing with Schmidt at the end was great too. "Models eating sliders"

I don't know what really carries weight with networks, but while the total numbers for New Girl aren't very good, the show is still managing a solid 2nd place finish in the 18-49 demo that everyone claims is so important.

While I can't stand Glee, myself, it seems to have a lot of followers and New Girl holds most of the 18-49 viewers and Glee is probably not as strong as it once was.

I would love to see it do better next season, but if it can be a 2nd place finisher in the 18-49, especially on FOX, it will be around for a while in my opinion.

Re: New Girl -- "Tomatoes" -- 4/24/12

The Russian model needs a spin off show.

The actor that plays Nick always annoys me as he just seems to shout every line at the top of his lungs causing everyone else in the scene to shout back at him.

Re: New Girl -- "Tomatoes" -- 4/24/12

Great stuff. I didn't care for the russian model, but it led to a great payoff with Schmidt in the hospital.

I was really expecting Nick and Jess to kiss at the end of that argument.

Does anyone know the name of the song or the artist that was playing when Jess and nick met outside his room?

I really want to know if anyone can help.

Thanks
