On the other hand, if JLD or My Girl were to walk around naked for an episode.....

I thought Gary was just Buster in a suit.
And way too many F words. It was completely forced.
My Girl was pretty cute though, so I'll give it a few more eps.

I thought this was pretty good. Not the funniest show on TV but off to a good start.

I'll give it a few more episodes as there seems to be some potential.
But is this really 'supposed' to be a comedy? It sure didn't seem like it.

I set a season pass for this yesterday and I went to watch it today and discovered I recorded the HBO Latino version by mistake. It was funny hearing the dubbed Spanish version.
Going to watch it on HBO Go today and re-set my pass.

Just finished it.
I kind of liked it. It was a little rough in some parts, but I laughed a few times. I took this as being a Political Satire and there wasn't alot of LOL moments. The excessive cursing did seem a little over the top and forced. Comedies take time to find their groove, so I'm willing to give it time to grow.
Selina: "This has been completely pencil fucked!"
I liked how the camera showed the speech all scratched off with the happy face.
It was funny how she mentions the word "Retard" in that speech and the shit hits the fan and she has to apologize to some random dude from a Mental Health commission.
"I am busy apologizing to that Fuck-Tard"
I liked Anna Chlumsky as the Chief of Staff, but Tony Hale was really annoying. He was annoying as shit when he was on Chuck and Human Target.
There is only 7 more episodes left, so the season should go by pretty fast.

Holy shit. Has she even worked since My Girl in the early 90s?
Had no idea. She is very attractive.

Yeah She's really pretty. She looks a little chubby here, but still attractive. Actually she appeared in White Collar and Covert Affairs on USA recently. She wore dark rimmed glasses and looked great too.

Gotta say that Julia Louis Dreyfuss looks good for being close to 50.

I was kinda 'meh' about the pilot. I didn't dislike it, but I also wasn't really laughing that much - I did enjoy seeing Anna Chlumsky again (probably 15 years since the last time I noticed her in a role). Personally I would have rather gotten a third season of "How to Make it in America" to be honest though.

How many comedies, especially in the last few years, were OMG LMAO, fall out of my chair funny in the 1st episode? Probably very few. I'm sure Veep wasn't intended to be that type of 30 minute comedy. As has been mentioned in this forum before in other 1/2 hour comedy threads, alot of these shows take time to find their voice and the actors to get into playing a new character. I'm sure alot of you are still associating Julia Louis-Dreyfus with playing Elaine and hearing Selina curse like a sailor may be off putting, but IMO give her a little time to get into this new character.
I read Alan Sepinwall's review on Hitfix.com and he really likes the show, but he said today that he won't do weekly write ups on it because there is way too much on Sunday night.

I don't consider Curb Your Enthusiasm a sitcom and it's one of the funniest shows on TV.

Well, I adored In The Loop and Veep was quite similar (though not quite as polished), so I liked it. I thought the script was pretty brilliant.

Unbelievably disappointing. I usually watch a couple of episodes of a new show before deciding, but I am out on this already.

re: Veep -- New HBO Series (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) -- Season 1 Thread -- 4/22/12
I do think the problem with the first episode is it felt like the comedy was very forced, and usually that worries me. Just because you say 'Fuck' doesn't mean its funny when you say it, and it seemed to me that Julia was throwing them in there AS the punchline, instead of part of the punchline. A show like this needs a good ensemble cast, and I just wonder how funny the side characters can really be?
But as I said before, I'll give it a few more episodes simply because I watch Game of Thrones, so this comes on right after it.

I caught an episode of New Christine this weekend on some late night cable chanel, JD was just wearing a bra and pants and her stomach looked amazing for a 51 mother of two.
The show had it's moments I will stick around to see if it improves.
