Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Walter travels to the Alternate Universe to assist in the investigation of a Fringe event with ties to both worlds. Meanwhile, David Robert Jones reveals his next target in the all-new "The Consultant" episode of FRINGE airing Friday, April 13 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (FR-418) (TV-14 L, V)

Episode 18 of 22

FYI, John Noble said in TVLine.com that they shot 2 endings for the finale.

The finale is airing May 11. FOX's upfront announcements are May 14th. Just my assumption, but I think a decision will have to be made by the end of this month.

Solid episode; like that the case was more or less a MacGuffin and the final resolution of the Broyles plot was not cut and dry on an emotional level.

Yeah, the Broyles resolution fit with his character. Also, guess he's not a shapeshifter after all.

Yep, I thought he was one. Nice way to wrap that up. I'm liking Bolivia more and more.

Loved this episode. Especially some of the fun details in Broyles' son's room in the alt-verse.

Crap. Gotta go look for those!

Also: no Sherlock Holmes!

 Good episode. Really nothing much else to add. Was that Walternate's doomsday device in the last night where Orange Broyles was trying to do something before he got caught? I know Orange Walternate isn't the evil Super Villain that Red Walternate was. It looked very similar.

I love Orange Bolivia. :D

 And I hate the Nielsen ratings system. 0.9 last night.

I have to wonder if FOX decided to put Fringe right after American Idol what kind of numbers it would get. I'm sure the ratings would double. IIRC, Fringe used to get 10-11M viewers a week after Idol on Tuesdays. However, Idol had higher ratings back then. I'm guessing the very few people still watching are DVRing the show and watching it Saturday or Sunday as opposed to live Friday nights.

One of the producers has said this is the week that Fox will make a decision to bring it back for one more season or not. The show's fate may have already been decided.

Well, all you have to do is look at the ratings for The Finder to get an idea on what Fringe would do. The Finder was getting around 6-7 million viewers in the post-Idol slot, and now it's getting the same ratings as Fringe on Friday.

This means The Finder has virtually no shot at renewal now. Fringe only has a chance due to it being a 4th year show and so close to syndication.

Next week's episode makes no sense to me.

Spoiler:
Why are we suddenly going 20 years into the future? Huh?

I'd say that you should probably watch to find out. The writers on this show have been amazing, I have complete faith in them.

There's generally really WTF episode per season (the musical episode, the animated episode), it looks like next week's is it.

Some British TV website called TVWise reported late last week that Fringe was close to receiving a final season order and only the episode number (7, 13 or 22) was being worked out.

However, the article has already been pulled from the website.

I saw that article at TVWise a few days ago. Wasn't sure how legit of a site it was.

Fringe's listing on TVLine's "renewal scorecard" was updated within the past week to "a sure thing" (meaning the show's renewal is a sure thing according TVLine's writers). Interestingly, it went all the way from "a long shot" (guessing early in the season) to a sure thing:

http://tvline.com/2012/01/03/2012-re...on-the-bubble/

I'm guessing (hoping) there will be a final season with at least 12 episodes.
