she has POV chapters
Lena Headey has really rounded out her portrayal of Cersei from the persistent scowl in S1 -- I enjoy her scenes much more this season than the last.
It did occur to me that had Arya grown up in more peaceful times she would likely be very much like Cersei.
I sorta agree with this except Cersei was on board with her betrothal to Robert before she realized that he would never love anyone except Lyanna. Something tells me that Arya wouldn't quite settle for the life of a nobleborn lady like Cersei has.

I really think we should change the title/intent of this thread to be discussion over the overall adaptation, including future spoilers or possible diversions. Otherwise we'll need a thread for that anyway as well as series-to-date threads that don't really make sense unless we go into the future anyway.

Isn't that what the episode discussions are for?

I think I can run rampant in there because I'm convinced everyone's put me on ignore.

I wonder if they're going to re-cast Beric Dondarrion. Granted he didn't do anything in season one, but he was cast and named in the show.

Glad they're including "The Queen of Thorns." She's my favorite minor character.

Sarah Bolger for meera, close to the right age, she has time on her hands (pilot was cancelled), she actually lives in Ireland, she has already acted in a period piece (she was Mary Tudor in the tudors)

Is it just me or does she look too much like Margaery? Probably won't matter since I imagine they'll have a wildly different wardrobe

She's even doing the Natalie Dormer Smirk™ in that second picture.

Oh well -- the show is still awesome.
I essentially agree with this, but not fully. Like others have said, Sansa has been a huge improvement in the show. I can take or leave Cersei, but she too is probably a bit better.

However, John is almost ruined as a character, and tonight's episode started to do the same for Stannis.

But we did get your face changing scene!

Agreed.

Stannis whining about killing Renly goes against his character

I still don't get the changes from Jon's story.

What's the deal with Theon's story? Are we to assume that Cleftjaw handed him over to Ramsay Snow in exchange for letting his men go back to Pyke?

That is how I took it.

However, they would all be killed by Balon, and virtually everybody else, the moment they set foot on the islands. So it doesn't make much sense to me.

That scene didn't make much sense either because if they just turned him over then why does Winterfell still get razed.

I like how they stuck true to book OSHA, she did not want to go north. I also liked how luwin went out not like bitch. He also did not tell them to split up, but I guess that happens after the reed twins

Re: Game of Thrones -- Season 2 Spoilers Thread -- Book Discussion and Other Material

I've seen a couple other folks online complaining about how Jon is made to look pretty weak this season. As far as I remember, he was pretty weak and wide-eyed and kind of a pussy in general in book 2.

I wish they would have done a flyover of Mance's camp. Could you see any giants from afar?
