Actors that played more than one character on the same show
Inspired by the "nine-year bump" thread ...
I know I have seen this occur on a number of the Law and Order versions (Jerry Orbach, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Diane Neal).
Can anybody else provide examples of an actor playing completely unrelated characters (i.e., playing one's own evil twin does not count) on the same show?

On JAG, the guy who plays McGee on NCIS was the son of the lady the Admiral was dating. NCIS is a spin off of JAG so it they are in the same universe.
On the new 90210, the guy who played the father was a different character on Melrose Place. Again, spinoff in the same universe.

Martin Payne.

In Doctor Who (just regular actors, not guests);
1) Peter Purves played the companion Steven and also played a hillbilly from Alabama.
2) Ian Marter played companion Harry and was also a seaman in Carnival of Monsters.
3) Colin Baker who played the Sixth Doctor had previously been a guard named Maxil in Arc of Infinity.

Because it's a different question! (I'm pretty sure this discussion was had at DVDTalk before, but I never have luck using the search engine unless there's a really specific word involved)
I'd think there are a lot of examples of this ... especially with long-running series that use lots of guest actors. Having just started rewatching the Babylon 5 epic, it was interesting to see that the guy who played Morden played a completely different character in the pilot.
Jeffrey Tambor managed to play 4 different characters on "Three's Company". Kind of strange, since he's a pretty distinctive looking and sounding actor ... you'd think even the dullest of viewers would notice it (and find it distracting). Then again, this was "Three's Company" we're talking about

Mako
Soon-Teck Oh
Richard Lee-Sung
Three guys responsible for no less than 20 appearances combined on M*A*S*H, although I suppose Richard Lee-Sung could've played the same character on a couple of occasions, seeing as how he was sometimes credited as "villager". There are a handful of other actors that also appeared on the show as different characters, but these are the most recognizable.

The practice of reusing actors was far more frequent on older sitcoms. I was watching some reruns of Bewitched and noticed the actress Sara Seeger played several different characters (usually wives of Darren's clients). She could pop up several times in the same season. Same for Dick Wilson (Mr. Whipple from the old Charmin commercials), who played various drunks/hobos on the same show... and now that I think of it, Alice Ghostley who played Tabitha's nanny Esmerelda also played a housekeeper in one of the early episodes.
Also, the actress who played Betty Ramsey on the final season of I Love Lucy had also appeared in earlier seasons -- most notably as the mother sitting next to Lucy on the plane when she is trying to smuggle a giant hunk of cheese.

There's a guy who shows up in almost every Honeymooners playing a different character. May not qualify as he was a sorta "regular"
Carl Reiner showed up as different characters on Dick Van Dyke Show.

Not the same show, but the same universe: Paul McGillion, Garwin Sanford, and Christopher Heyerdahl were both different characters on Stargate SG-1 vs Stargate Atlantis.
Cheating a bit, Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) also played Machello in an episode of SG-1 and was the voice of Thor. Lani Tupu was Crais and the voice of Pilot in Farscape.
Cheating a bit more, but also in Farscape, Wayne Pygram was both Scorpius and Harvey while Ben Browder played 2 different versions of Chrichton.

Judy Greer has played two different characters on Two and a Half Men.
Mentioning that show makes me feel dirty.

Monte Landis played a variety of different guest characters (mostly villains but one that wasn't) on The Monkees. Rip Taylor and Rose Marie were also on it twice playing two different characters each.
