A quick thought to point out. I've only seen a few episodes of the original H50. Ed Asner is playing the same character that he played in the original series 30+ years ago. And they are using footage from the original series here. Unless there is 2 Steve McGarrett's and 2 Danny Williams, the whole timeline doesn't make any sense incorporating a character from the original series here.

They ended up doing a good job letting Ed Asner's character span the two timelines. Just pushed McGarrett off as his dad being the one who booked him.

and they're throwing out the idea that Steve's father was the McGarrett that took Asner's character to prison. Of course, they're not saying he's the "Steve McGarrett" played by Jack Lord, but I'd rather they'd just left it alone. Other than that, though, I enjoyed the episode, if only for its "everything but the kitchen sink" approach and the last scene, which I really didn't expect, -at least the way they played it.

Pretty cool episode. I never watched the original series, but still found the plot device quite cool.

 Probably one of the better episodes in a long time.

I think this was a perfect example of H50 at it's strongest. Fun case and good banter between Steve and Danny.

I also agree that this was a very creative way to integrate the 2 H50 timelines together. The old footage was a nice touch. I liked August's line about a McGarrett arresting him 30 years ago with the little re-working for Steve's Dad.

The twist at the end was pretty cool. They did leave it open for August to return again.

 at the Grenade B-Day cake.

Regarding Tony Todd (the Liberian), I did meet him at a local comic convention one time. He is a huge dude. He's all right when interacting with fans.

He's one of my favorite actors (from The Rock and 24), and I asked him what it's like working with Michael Bay - since there are many reports about how difficult it is to work with Bay. His answer was, "we have an understanding."
