aka Taken: The Series ;)

Starring:
Ashley Judd
Sean Bean

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
How far would you go to save the only thing you have left in the world? At 8 years of age, Michael Winstone watched as his father, CIA agent Paul Winstone, was murdered. Now 10 years later, Paul's wife, Becca, is faced with the reality that her son is growing up. When Michael is afforded the opportunity to study abroad, his mother reluctantly agrees it's time to let him go. But just a few weeks into his trip, Michael disappears, and Becca immediately suspects foul play. When she arrives in Rome, she begins piecing together the clues left behind. It isn't long before the kidnappers realize they've picked a fight with the wrong woman, because Becca has a secret of her own -- before Paul's death, she was also a lethal CIA operative. If she wants to find her son alive, Becca will have to rely on old friends and reopen old wounds. All of her resourcefulness, skill and determination will be put to the test -- but a mother's love knows no limits.

In the premiere episode, "Pilot," Becca Winstone learns that her son disappears while studying abroad, and it's a race against time when she travels to Europe to track him down. Amazing locations and thrilling twists abound as it's revealed just how far one mother will go to protect her family, on "Missing," premiereing THURSDAY, MARCH 15 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

For me, this show doesn't need to be logical, believable etc. I just want alot of action and see her kill some Terrorists ass and maybe be a female Jack Bauer...yeah right. But, it's a short series order.

I'll give this a try.

Ashley Judd is one of my celebrity crushes

FYI, for anyone who wants to try this early. IMDB.com has posted the full Pilot episode. It runs about 41 minutes.

Any positive buzz? Only thing I've seen or heard is the commercial about 100x.

Sepinwall gave it a B- It's a mostly positive review with a few nitpicks. He said it delivers alot of action for a TV budget and Judd has presence.

Ken Tucker for Entertainment Weekly gave it a C+

Spoiler:
Missing

Oh, how I was wishing Ashley Judd would be on a good TV series. I'm afraid this one — Judd plays an ex-CIA agent whose son is kidnapped — is silly and overwrought. Half the time it's Alias lite, with Judd chasing after bad guys and smashing noses. The rest of the time she's yelling variations on ''I'm a mother looking for her son!'' as she globe-trots. The international settings are pretty and Judd does her damnedest with what she's got, but Missing's tough-mom role and poorly paced, unsuspenseful suspense scenes make the series hard to root for.
C+

Do they usually keep these up for a few days by chance? We're currently under a bunch of tornado news on every station and I doubt they'll stop for any regular TV shows so this may be the way I'll be watching this.

Is this a miniseries or a short season to test it before getting a full season in the fall?

Re: Missing -- New Series with Ashley Judd -- "Pilot" -- 3/15/12

 It was a little rough here and there, but I liked it.

 at Sean Bean getting blown up in the 1st segment. I heard he's a series regular, but will live on in flashbacks.

I would say this is the television equivalent of Taken and a little bit of 24 as well. It's nice to finally have a serialized action series after a long time with a female lead.

 Ashley Judd is in phenominal shape for her age. She looked really good in the fight scenes. Becca kicked ass. I thought it was funny when Becca arrived in Michael's apartment and got into a fight with the goon, her martial arts fight skills magically turned on after getting her ass kicked.

For this being shot on location in Europe (I read Ashley's tweets last summer when she was filming) I was surprised at how much green screen they used. I guess that's what you get for a TV budget.

The pacing was a little bit of an issue for me. After Becca got into that shootout with the goons and then took off on the scooter, things came to a screeching halt. Specifically when she went to see Giancarlo all wounded up and took that very intimate bath with him watching.

Other than that, It was pretty entertaining. It's only 9 more weeks.

Short season order (10 episodes) to accomodate Ashley Judd's schedule.

She used to be for me, now I hate her. I think that it was all of the awful movies she did over the last decade. This show just looks terrible, I'll be curious what the ratings are.

The acting was good and the storyline was good although it's been used before. My only complaints were technical issues, particularly the fight scenes. I thought they were clumsily edited with too many cuts and very hard to follow. The scooter chase was similarly confusing and underlit. I still enjoyed it and will watch again.

I thought it was C+ / B- material as well.

I was surprised by the amount of hand-to-hand combat she did. Though that train scene was terrible. Poorly lit scene and shaky camera.

But since it's Ashley Judd, I'll stick around...haha

Wanted to check this out bet forgot about it.

They make Ashley look so plain in the previews but I suspect they'll dress her up plenty as the series gets going.

Which if it stays steady (above a 1.8 demo, especially with that high of total viewers) would pretty much lock it in for additional seasons.

And if the series is to be renewed it will never film more than 12 episodes a year. ABC is looking at this as more of a spot-filler that could potentially end every season (think "The River").

I liked it a lot.
Gorgeous locations and good action. This will do nicely to fill the spot after Human Target self-destructed and until Strike Back returns.

Meh... Not since the first season of Buffy has fight scene stunt-doubles been that obvious. It was pretty embarrassing really. The dialog was awful, but the story itself wasn't that bad. I'll give it a second episode since it is a rule of mine, but I'm not holding out hope.

I give it a C/C-

It doesn't really seem the type of show that should have multiple seasons. Have her find her son by ep10 and be done with it. Was it filmed as a complete story or are we going to end up with a cliffhanger that might never be resolved?

Yeah, but since it's called "Missing," she could look for other stuff: stolen government secrets, uranium, car keys, remote controls. The possibilities are endless.

-ohbfrank- Gee thanks.

Back to actually talking about the show.

Going back to the discussion about how they would continue this show beyond these 10 episodes.

http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/the-fien...s-abcs-missing

I found the above interview with Ashley Judd. She kind of touches on it a little bit.

I read the full interview and it was mentioned the show is shot in Rome, Paris, Vienna, Prague, and Istanbul. For a TV series, I'm impressed with the locations they got.

I dunno about this one. It was entertaining enough, but it was like a poor man's Bourne movie.

I normally like Ashley Judd, but she was kind off stiff in this. I'll give it a couple more episodes, though.
