The ballistics point didn't bug me. Labs can actually turn things very quickly -- I've seen it happen when the right people have made the request.
Limehouse is playing a dangerous game, but it's one it feels like he knows how to play all too well.

When he knew someone was messing with his trunk, and he's been threatening if not beating up murderers, pimps, crime organizations, etc, and he didn't check the car and trunk, including for a bomb underneath, that was kind of thin.
The quick ballistics, at least I thought, was due to them already having done the work on the round from the victim, and them already having many checks on Raylan's weapon from his multiple shootings, as the chief started to say 'the many times he...' and stopped. So the check would have been about as long as checking the barrel numbers and making sure it was the same weapon, and then checking those existing reports right?
A bomb going off that close behind you and you just get up and walk away was thin too. Haven't they seen 'The Other Guys'?
Again I'm liking the fast pace this season, a lot of developments. A few thin plot points but it pulled it off overall.

i guess the Winnona exit is their way of handling nat zea on the kevin bacon show. she can be out of the storyline if the show takes off, but change her mind yet again about seeing raylan if it tanks.
i continue to love that this takes place in the real world where things are not just forgotten. art kicking the shit out of the informant, raylan beating up bottle blonde wynn duffy in the "wynn duffy a bago", raylan deputizing cletus van damm in the first season shootout.
it is nice when writers pay attention and make things have consequences.

This was a good, albeit a strangely unsatisfying episode. I guess I just wanted the Feds to eat some more shit for being so conceited, but I guess that might come later. And whatever came of the talk Raylan had with Max Perlich's character?

But yes, I completely agree. The continuity of this show is the best I have ever seen not on HBO.

Everything was a bit rushed and wrapped up too quickly. Both investigations should have been a 2-3 episode arc (sub-plot to the main action).

I wish the writers would exercise subtlety in critical situations. This is the second episode someone has made reference to Quarles' quick-draw mechanism jamming; I think it's pretty obvious now this is how Raylan will get him.

I don't think they mean for it to be a surprise. Sometimes there is merit in some nice if obvious foreshadowing.

At first thought, I'd say Boba Fett's right in that it lessens the tension of an upcoming situation. On the other hand, one could easily level the charge that it's, "convenient," if it jams in Raylan's favor with no previously shown history of it jamming. Such is the challenge of balancing the various factors involved in storytelling.
