Synopsis:

Spoiler:
In the premiere episode, "Pilot," Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), once the ultimate high school "mean girl," is forced to return home in disgrace after her marriage ends in scandal. Reluctant but desperate, Amanda has no choice but to turn to her mother, Gigi (Annie Potts), for help. Gigi, the quintessential proper Dallas socialite, wants nothing more than to have Amanda back and to give Amanda's two teenage kids a good southern upbringing. The problem is that Amanda is nothing like the girl she was 20 years ago and is hesitant about re-entering this world of opulence, status and salacious rumor mills. She is hopeful for a new start, but soon finds it's not that easy to escape your past in this tight knit community, and the women of Dallas are none too happy to see her back in town. Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth), once the ugly duckling, was tortured by Amanda in high school but has made quite the "assisted" transformation since. Now she has a picture-perfect, lavish life with a gorgeous husband, yet she still can't seem to let go of old grudges. Then there's Cricket Caruth-Reilly (Miriam Shor) whose boyfriend Amanda stole and later married. Cricket is now a tough-as-nails, successful businesswoman with a perfect marriage - at least so it appears from the outside. Sharon Peacham (Jennifer Aspen), the fallen beauty queen whose chance at the Miss Teen Dallas crown was snatched away by a malicious rumor Amanda started, hasn't really been the same since. Finally, there's Heather Cruz (Marisol Nichols), a bit of an outsider back in high school who has now become fully inducted into this twisted little social clique of affluent, sugary, God-fearing, steely women whose bark is as bad as their bite. You know what they say about payback, Amanda, it's a...

10 episodes for season 1.

This is being looked at as a possible successor to Desperate Housewives.

I love Kristin Chenoweth, so that's the main draw for me.

Kristin Chenoweth

Annie Potts
Marisol Nichols

^ I have a feeling if this flops in the ratings we will see another show just like it soon as ABC attempts to fill the DH void.

I agree that it looks bad. I'll give it a shot. Still, I'd rather they bring back Pan Am.

Watched this with my wife tonight who was excited for this. We both agreed that it was shit. Don't see it going very far. Luckily I half read a magazine so I don't feel I completely wasted an hour.

Uh-oh ...... this was not fun ....... I'll give it another week or two (a Chenoweth fan) but don't think this is a grabber.

(and ..... a blonde whose wealthy lifestyle suddenly vanishes because of an exposed Ponzi scheme ... so she becomes a waitress .... TWO BROKE GIRLS, anyone?)

No doubt a perfectly accurate description of Christians in the South with all their hypocrisies.

Trying to decide if I want to continue watching or just too mad at how right they got the region/religion and therefore too pissed off to continue watching it.

Well I like a campy trashy show so I thought this pilot was great.. It's cast really, really well and it's a pretty big cast of characters too so lots of room for a range of story lines..
I like Kristin Chenoweth character's commitment to be nosy that she was willing to climb up a step ladder to use a telescope that seemed to be three times bigger then her..
I also like Leslie Bibb just owning up to where she worked right away to turn the tables on the other women trying to use it against her..

I'm in for a few more eps at least..

What happened to Chenoweth? She looks like she aged 10 years in less than two years.

I live in Dallas and see and hear crap like this all day. Don't want to watch it on TV.

Me and the Gf are watching Lost. Her first time. Better time spent.

The fact that everyone's really commenting on this makes me think its a deliberate look for the character.

Apparently this was originally conceived as a cable show called "Good Christian Bitches" then rewritten for Network TV and a lot of sex and language was removed then the title changed to "Good Christian Belles". So I don't see this doing very well because of it being on a network, and a Disney owned network.

I doubt it was really changed to Belles since one of the main aspects in promoting the show seems to involve avoiding saying the actual "B" word in the title.

Just caught my DVR. Doubt I will make this part of my regular viewing schedule. Leslie Bibb looked too much like she could be her kids' older sister as opposed to their mother. I am guessing they put make-up on Chenoweth to make her appear more plastic, as they made a point of her "work being done." Also, how come the characters' accents keep slipping in and out ? I know from Talledega Nights Bibb is capable of a decent one, but it seemed like she couldn't make up her mind on whether or not to use it for this show.

Leslie Bibb has mentioned the change to "Belles" more than once on Twitter (yes I follow :)) and also mentioned it on talk shows. She gave no real reason for the change to "GCB" other than they couldn't use "Belles". After what Penguin Joe said, I can now understand why they didn't want to use "Belle".

Considering the book came out in 2008, maybe it's the TV show that stole from it.

Always know all the facts Marty baby.

Marc Cherry is moving on to Devious Maids next season, so if there is a true successor to DH, that would be it.
