Alan ball trueblood's show runner to step down season six

Alan Ball will step down as showrunner of True Blood after next season.

The creator and executive producer of the HBO vampire drama, which returns for Season 5 this summer, announced Monday that he will continue on the series in a supervisory role should True Blood be renewed for a sixth season. He will continue to act as showrunner for the fifth season, which is currently in production.
Also he is creating a medical drama for hbo called witchita and a drama called banshee for Cinemax

He's leaving after season 5, which airs this summer. It hasn't been renewed for a 6th season yet.

It might be time to shut it down. The show has been hit or miss and has never recaptured what it was in the first season. 5 seasons is a good run and they can give it a meaningful end before it completely loses its appeal. But of course TB is a big hit for HBO so I'm sure theyll run it into the ground like they did with Entourage.

Currently it's the highest rated series on HBO (Game of Thrones might be able to overpower it soon though) and I doubt they are going to want to cancel it anytime soon. All of the major actors are contracted for 7 years and I highly doubt it will end before then. It more or less pays for all the lower-tier shows such as "Enlightened" and "Treme".

I'm expecting a renewal/new show-runner announcement shortly after season 5 begins.
